Click for bigger, magnificent. Best Michele pic EVER.
And this is, of course, unmitigated bullshit in its purest form. First of all, there are only nine "outtakes" in the feature, and anybody who knows anything about photography knows that's an improbably tiny number of discarded shots. Secondly, I stand by my earlier comment that this is the kind of revenge Bachmann should expect when she constantly bashes the press. And finally, I've seen loads of pictures (so you don't have to!) of Michele Bachmann, and there are plenty of them where she looks quite convincingly like a totally normal person.
Newsweek should stand tall! They should just shrug and say, "Why yes, we are desperate for attention and so we used a particularly nutty picture of this lady because she is a particularly nutty subject, and it's funny, so there."
It's all OK though, because the photos are great. I mean, look at her. Look at Michele! She is terrified of that coffee table.
Plus, anybody who wears those shoes with that suit is obviously off her rocker.

She's not crazy! She's on the phone!
Oh, wait, she isn't holding the receiver.
Sorry. False alarm. Carry on.
That is the Best Michele pic EVER. Extremely arty, beyond alienated into insane. Thank you for sharing it with us.
WTF?!?!?!
First, who's jacket is that? Her dad's? Worst.Fit.Ever.
And the shoes? The shoes? Did you pull a 5150 Britney Spears and fire your stylist and decide to dress yourself right before the shoot?
The "outakes" are epic. Yellow journalism at its finest. But seriously, there are far more pictures of this lady looking demonically posed and made up with a trowel than Newsweek posted.
Which is probably why this isn't going to boost their sales at all.
Is this a picture of her in the Oval Office? How dare she wear such a tacky shoe/suit combo to the White House? Shameful. Just shameful.
One more thing...
As I zoom in on the photo, I realize that this woman has NO CLUE how to apply her eye makeup. She'd be better off without it. Those crazy eyes and everything - she'd be better off not drawing attention to them.
She's adjusting the computer chip implanted in her head. But seriously, that is way better than the news week cover.
WHAT is she doing with her hand up to her face?
Hope everyone read the New Yorker takedown of her, where Ryan Lizza teases us with the possibility of pix of Miche1e in cargo pants, but does not provide same, demonstrating the difference between his rag and Tina Brown's, I guess.
Have to agree with "Cranky Old Bat" on this one.
Sweet baby jesus on a breadstick those are possibly the worst shoes to pair with a suit, a sundress maybe. She's got a decent figure why drape it in that hideous garb? I hate when women dress like men just to gain some credibility. Um hon, you don't have any.
The New Yorker article makes you realize that the Newsweek cover is as accurate a piece of photojournalism as there ever was.
She looks like an anxious mouse in an open-field test.
For some reason, this reminds me of a Robert Fripp album cover. An Exposure-era b-side. Not sure why.
It's funny you mention pouring through pictures of her, because I was actually going to do just that, because I really don't remember a picture of her that's not at least a little off. And that's okay; some people just habitually don't photograph well.
But there must be a couple of good shots, right? And you claim you've seen at least a nearly-normal one.
But I think we can all agree that this probably isn't it.
She looks like one of those little plastic people that populate electric train villages.
