Awkward!

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, left, presides over the unveiling of the official portrait of Madeleine Albright, the 64th Secretary of State, and the first woman to serve in that post, at the State Department in Washington, Monday, April 14, 2008. (AP Photo/Lawrence Jackson)

It's hard to choose which of the above is more mortified, Condi or Maddy? Maddy's probs all like, "What an honor to have my portrait unveiled by idiot girl." And Condi's thinking, "OMG, this is that teacher I had who I hated who said mean things* about my boss."

Really, everybody's a loser in this photo-op. But Maddy's portrait looks nice!

*This link inspired a totally fun game! See if you can guess which quote below is the real one:

  • 1. "The president's speech last Wednesday night should be viewed less as a statement of policy than as a prayer. It was not about reality. It was about hope. But hope is not a strategy," she said.
  • 2. "Senator Obama's speech last Wednesday night should be viewed less as a statement of policy than as a prayer. It was not about reality. It was about hope. But hope is not a strategy," she said.

Pssst: #1 is the real quote, Albright about Bush. Eerie, huh?

This has done it!

I have now become a complete, total, committed misogynist.

I always thought women were smarter, more sensitive, more subtle than men. In brief, superior. Eve was a far higher expression of evolution (whatever that is) than Adam.

But looking at these two horrid witches I have come to the conclusion that because She (God) made me of the male persuasion I have no reason to believe I should not despise the human race indiscriminately; that, in other words, I should not find women as despicable as men.

Meanwhile MAlbright's hands -- are they not a suggestion of what her probably weird sexual organ looks like, slightly (strangely?) above her belly button? Or was the artist poking fun at her?

This is the weirdest photo I have seen in a long time, expressing all the phobias, infatuations, idiocies, whatever, of our modern American Error.

Thank you as always Princess for disclosing the zeitgeist (sp?).

Is Maddy wearing a wings pin in the portrait, because I'm getting kind of a stewardessy vibe.

This made my evening. The former Secretary of State that I liked, and the current Secretary of State that I can't stand (who happens to have been the student of the former's father) pretending to like each other. You can see the judgment emanating from Albright's wizened visage, and Condi totally feels it.

It's enough to turn a gal straight. (almost)

First, the portrait of Secretary Albright is truly lovely.
Second, I'd like to volunteer to create Condi's official portrait.
Third, I'll need all of you to send me a vial of human blood for the background.
Fourth, I'll need a release from Oreo to use its logo.

KZD: you are naught, naughty, naughty.
Now, where do I send the pint of blood?

Statement 2 must be the real one because nobody would ever refer to something said by Bush as "hope."
