Fashion Victim: Lacoste Hops On The Oversized Logo Bandwagon

Danger! Danger! Do not let this garment touch your flesh!

Oh, god, no. Remember? It was just recently, we banged our little gavels and pronounced the Ralph Lauren Polo shirts with the supersized logos to be tasteless and unacceptable to wear with the sole exception that you need to wear one to blend in undercover amongst douchebags. And then we moved on to other topics (Sarah Palin, paintings of big-eyed puppies and kittens).

But, lo! Now Lacoste is doing it too, and it seems maybe twice as bad! Who in their right mind would sport that huge alligator? How is the universe going to correct this?

Its a terrifying trend. It reminds me of the obnoxiously large North Face logos that can be found on almost any frat boy/sorority girls clothing. :P

Oh, no.

I hope nobody releases an unwanted shirt into the sewer system.

Idiocracy is looking keenly prescient.

It's not enough to pay $75 for one of those goofy shirts, I guess for that money people want everyone to KNOW it's a Lacoste.
They should just leave the price tag on, like Minnie Pearl used to do with her hats.

How is the universe going to correct this? perhaps with the destruction of the human race, except for a tiny rag tag band of survivors, fleeing to some distant, dimly remembered haven, pursued by giant corporate logos.

Wait....can those alligators be removed and used as nipple clamps?

This reminds me (vaguely) of one of my favorite songs...

Dancing by the Nile, The ladies love his style. Rockin' for a mile, He ate a crocodile.

You know, at least one can now spot a douchebag at a greater distance and alter one's course of action.

"Hi, we're brand-name labels. Remember us? From the 80s? You proudly wore us, Consumerist America. Hell, you even climbed over your own relatives to own us! Well, us, and Cabbage Patch Kids.

"What happened to you, Consumerist America? You changed. You shoved us aside for Nirvanna and Lollapalooza, and femminist studies, and angst-ridden, flannel-clad 'grunge' anti-fashion.

"But that's okay. Our hearts are as big as our new logos. And we missed you. See? You can't miss us now! Ha ha!"

I'm blanking. Weren't these shirts tasteless and unacceptable whether or not they had any logos on at all? That was the position *I* voted for.

Yes and no, Bowlingballhead. The Lacoste alligator was always acceptable to me because they (and Munsingwear) started it. Also, vintage Izod-Lacoste stuff looks good. The Polo logo, with its explicit New England Preppy connotations, was always tasteless.

Interesting!

When it comes to men’s clothing the first thought which sparks in my mind is designer jeans. Anything will be suitable with designer jeans might be tees, shirts, jackets or blazers. Men in designer jeans look cool and handsome!
