U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, left, shakes hands with Turkey's Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan prior to a meeting in Ankara, Turkey, Monday, March 24, 2008. Cheney was greeted by several small protests during a brief visit to Ankara on Monday where he held talks with Turkish leaders on regional security issues as a part of his Middle East tour. Superb, no? That is one of the most impressive matching armchairs photo-ops I've ever seen. It should be in the textbooks at the diplomat schools where all the future Condis go. In fact, who needs Condi at all when Dick Cheney is capable of following in her footprints and tidying up her little unfinished bits of business (you'll recall that when Condi was in Turkey in November, they threw darts at her). He accomplishes this with threats and a crooked little smile. Neat!
And if I may display a little of the thoroughness which behooves (Yay! Hooves!) a writer who claims to be such a smarty-pants expert on the hallowed matching armchairs, you may wonder if Condi herself has ever enjoyed this perfect setting? Why yes, she has, on April 25, 2006:
He's even wearing the same tie! His lucky meet-the-Americans tie!

aww.. wheres the post on the passport breach.
Personally, I think Condi look positively radiant during her "fielding questions from major skrew-up" press conference.
@problemwithcaring: you mean she looks positively irradiated?
Poor Condi, back to the Middle East next week to clean up the mess VP Penguin (quack quack) cleaned up after her. Then, Bush will be back in May to clean up behind both his SOS and VP. Neither of them seem thrilled to be in the Middle East. I tell you...unreasonable demands from your employer.

Unka Dick has bigger flags, though.
Erdogan's tie isn't lucky per se, it's merely soaked in kryptonite to ward off the might of the visiting warmongers.
it's merely soaked in kryptonite to ward off the might of the visiting warmongers.
Or maybe garlic from 1,000 lunches to ward off American vampires.
Well, at least she got to fart in the Turkish Chair of the Exalted Visiting Dignitary before Cheney did.
She also got more flowers.
Might there be a connection?
Wow, a two-year-old tie to meet Mr. Personality. Way to show the Devil his due.
Almost flawless, Unca Dick. The Turkish Flag is too off center -- and left of center no less! -- of the curtain gap.
Since when does a VP run US foreign policy?
When our beloved, weirdly-haired, oh-so-proper in the-worse-petite-bourgeoise-sort-of-way, so-dreadfully-middle-brow, so-basically-ignorant/arrogant of the world outside of Georgia and Colorado Ms. "With Condolence" (yes, "Condi") was put "in charge" (ah-ah-ah) of US foreign policy by an idiot like herself, cheerleader Dubya -- both of them willingly (ignorantly) manipulated by the Big Dicks from Oil Companies.
Cheney is laughing in his grave (well, not quite yet).
Nobody wants to see Dick's legs.
Although Cheney in a pantsuit might be amusing.

Further proof that Turks are not Arabs.
No Kleenex.
Sending Cheney instead of Condi is kind of like when Don Vito would send Luca Brazzi instead of Tom Hagen. No worries that the wrong message would be sent and you'd need to kill a horse to get your point across.
So?

The flags got larger but the flowers look about the same. I guess when the big dick shows up, the big flag goes up.
Is it true that cheney asked him to go bird hunting with him some time.
D-Cap, I loved your terse comment.
samael7, the entire ensemble appears to be left of center. Check the alignment of the flowers with the chromed urn on the mantel. (Whose ashes do they keep in there?)
Condi's people definitely know how to handle the symmetry better. Of course, the net result is that the Merkin flag gets the God-halo while that crescent moon doesn't. Take that!
Also, note that Dick gets many fewer flowers -- they shrivel and wilt under his gaze, and changing them every five minutes gets both expensive and tiring.
Egads, you're right, pc! I think the dark bits on the painting above the fireplace threw me off.
If you look closely at the floral spray, you can see some blackened, shrivelled flowers. Just like Dick's heart.
I swear to god that the picture of April 25, 2006 and this one is exactly the same. Even the flowers are in the same place in the arrangement. what's up with that?
