Society is Forcing Christian Moms to Dress Their Children as Prostitutes

It's really a tragedy: the concerned women of the Concerned Women for America want to dress their daughters as pilgrims or spinsters, but Hollywood, hairdressers 'n' Anna Wintour have conspired to clear every single store coast-to-coast of everything but crotchless panties and peekaboo tube-tops. Please shed a tear with me:
The media, Hollywood, and alternative lifestyles all influence the fashion industry, [CWA sob-sister Janice] Crouse says -- and that is why it is difficult to find modest and attractive clothing for young girls. But avoiding indulgence in the sexualized culture demands that parents persevere in the quest, she says.
And a divine quest it is, too! Last I heard, the expedition was deep in the darkest jungles of Topeka, searching fruitlessly for long hems and high collars. Pity them.

Princess, I didn't see a single sluttishly dressed trick-or-treater on Halloween. Granted, it was a nippy night here in D.C., but all of the kids were quite covered up.

Oh, God... the "sexy Halloween" stories in the press this year were out. of. control. And it's so idiotic, because all the stories talk about it like it's this scary, bad-for-children thing, but when they show people shopping for slutty costumes, they're inevitably adults. It's not like six-year-olds are going out trick-or-treating in crotchless French maid outfits or anything. Sheesh!

Well, not having actually shopped for such clothing, I cannot comment on what is actually available out there. But I will say that over the last few years I have noticed more and more prostitots out there. And I think that the increasingly sexualized nature of mass media drives it (look at teen shows, teen mags at the check-out aisle). Now, the liberals in this country driving it? I DON'T think so. That's f*cking ridiculous.

Oh, yes, I agree, Mr. Yankee. But the assertion in the article that alternatives are barely available is totally ludicrous. Are plain t-shirts and blouses suddenly missing from store shelves? I don't think so. I mean, I've been to The Gap.

Who cares if they dress like whores? Just so long as nobody's sending them sexy IMs!

Some insight into the costuming choice of someone we know, perhaps?

So much sexy clothing so little time... I was recently shopping for my 10 year old step daughter and was confronted with endless racks of t-shirts, ordinary (albeit overpriced) jeans, etc. As our PSP states, try the Gap CWA!!!!

Oh my god! This one totally gave me a woo...flashback. You've been reading my diary or something. A few years back I bought, from the old Pleasure Chest in Georgetown, a truly smoking French maid's outfit for my gal to wear at Halloween. I remember there was some kind of clergyman with collar and everything in the shop, clearly doing research and not, I'm sure, buying a ball spreader or anything....

It makes me nervous that all these "moms" are worrying about their daughters dressing too sexy. It makes me nervous in the logic of the "I hate gays but I'm gay" politicians who are (ahem) streaming through the media like so much wind driven spoor.

These "moms" think WAY too much about sex and their daughters. Their fascinating with the topic makes me wonder WHY? Because these "moms" aren't getting any sex from their closeted gay husbands? Or these "moms" are secret lingerie sniffers?

Now I feel all icky and think I'll go compulsively shower until my top layer of skin slides into the drain....

Okay, so maybe there are a few things out there that probably shouldn't be...

But I think we should be blaming the companies marketing this crap rather than some amorphous liberal boogeyman.

Call me crazy.

Good luck finding those long hems in Topeka. All the girls there are dressed as skankily as Hot Topic will allow.

You just *had* to repost that kiddie disco album picture didn't you?

I suppose I'd have done the same in your place.

Doesn't make me feel any less EWW!, but no blame attaches.

*Squick!*
