Hard Work

In this photo provided by the White House, President Bush meets with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and National Security Advisor Steve Hadley, right, at the Bush Ranch to discuss the Middle East, Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, in Crawford, Texas. Bush has signed off on a draft U.N. Security Council resolution aimed at ending fighting in the Mideast, his spokesman said Saturday. (AP Photo/White House, Eric Draper)
Have you ever seen such a fine shot of fake working? And look! Hadley's wearing casual clothes, something I'm pretty sure we've never seen before. He looks thrillingly comfortable in civvies, am I right? I'm sure they've really been studying hard during their working vacation at the Bush Ranch, don't you? I bet Condi, especially, has cleared just TONS of brush so far in between helicopter rides to Neiman's in Houston.

Also, to continue the theme of working super hard, they transmitted footage of the Condibot to Meet the Press today:

This photo provided by NBC News shows Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on a video monitor, right, as she speaks during a remote interview from Crawford, Texas, by moderator Tim Russert, on screen, left, and a left, during a taping of 'Meet the Press' Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006 at the NBC studios in Washington. I watched and let me tell you, the Condibot functioned without a hitch, never straying from its programmers' talking points and unflappably optimistic. Good ol' Condibot! It can take a tough Tim Russert licking and keeps on ticking!

OMG, I almost forgot to pass along the Condibot's pearls of wisdom this weekend! OK, one, there will be an Israel/Lebanon cease fire any day now and two, Iraq won't become an Iran-like theocracy. Neato, Condi!

Hey, you gotta give 'em credit...the Condibot is wearing the same jaunty, nautically-inspired striped top beneath the blazer as she is the faux-work shot, sans blazer, above. Her style team has definitely been working on their seamlessness...

I was totally going to mention the shirt thing as well. I was just hoping she pulled an all-nighter or something, but I guess you can only bring so much luggage to the ranch.

Dearest Princess,

Condi's performance was well oiled all right (she even got that stupid grin off her face) but did you notice that everything she declared about U.S. m.o. in Iraq was just about in total contrast to what she said about U.S. policy toward post-Castro Cuba? It seemed to me that her probably unintended suggestion was that all we did in Iraq should not be done in Cuba...

Poor Condi! First they take her to a fake ranch (there are no cows there!) and then they make her go to the Neiman's in Houston when the real one is in Dallas (and oh so much closer!)?!? What will they make her endure next? Her job is super hard.
