In this photo made available by the Government Press Office, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, right, and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert smile during a joint press conference at Olmert's office in Jerusalem Tuesday July 25, 2006 . Rice arrived in Israel on Monday for talks about the ongoing fight between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon. (AP Photo/Amos Ben Gershom/GPO)OMG, everyone is so nice in Israel! I think they were being extra-supportive to Condi because of her awful, awful hair day yesterday, but today the coiffure is back to standard, thank goodness. Oh, and I think she was there to say, "OK, everybody calm down!" and then they all smiled and said, "Um, OK, whatever you say, Condi!" But, seriously, I think they were just being nice. And just in case you thought her trip there was totally a waste of time, well, she got to talk behind the prettiest blue podiums EVER:
So anybody who thinks that Condi's voyage was completely pointless, I mean... not everybody gets to stand behind those gorgeous blue podiums, OK? Plus, what are you trying to imply, that she's useless or something? Perish the thought! There's a lot of Italian shoe manufacturers who beg to differ!
In other Condinews, it's always fun to see what people in other countries are saying about our favorite Doctor Secretary, isn't it? I found this article on some, like, Scandihoovian web site, but I don't read Denmarkian or Norwayish or whatever, so can somebody translate this headline for me?

My Huskerdudlian is a little rusty, but I believe the headline reads, "North Korea watch out! Secretary Hairdo discovers Imbecillium." It then goes on to explain that imbecillium is a "pro-idiotic" chemical derived from the President's gym socks. Imbecillium renders one immune to undesirable ideas, and is proving a useful weapon in the War on Facts.
When I saw her hair yesterday, the first person I thought of was you. I thought to myself, Princess is being given a gift. LOL, and you were.
No translation needed here!
'Robot' and 'imbecile' must be pretty universal.
Come on! Can't you recognize Sveeedish when you see it? ;)
It translates:
North Korea: Condoleeza Rice is Imbecilic
USA Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice is "politically imbecilic" when she criticizes North Korea's robot test. This written by the official North Korean news bureau KCNA in answer to Rice's statement that North Korea is "completely irresponsible" and a "dangerous" state.
It could have been a surprise to the people who were trapped under buildings that were blown all to hell up by bombs. They might have been surprised to know she was there. Maybe others were not paying much attention in their bomb shelters.
(sorry, that's my snark bite for the day)
Peacebug, she wasn't supposed to go to Beirut at first (oh dreadful vision, just think what the bomb blasts would do to her hair). But Olmert generously promised to hold off the attacks for the day so she could do some sightseeing and they could concentrate on how to kill a few of those wicked UN peace force observors.
Although the translation up there is excellent, the phrase "North Korea's robot test" may sound a little off. Fortunately, it all makes sense when you know that the wacky Swedish word robot means not only 'robot' but also 'missile' or 'rocket'.
Um, speaking of rockets: Princess, please 'splain to us exactly WHAT Madame Secretary and the PM are looking at behind the lovely blue podium? Did he choose that moment to reveal their latest weapon? She does sorta have that "can I touch it?" look ...
I debated whether to include the word "missile" but figured it was obvious enough as it was, considering the subject matter.
