AP Headline Writer States the Obvious

I wonder if AP's Anne Gearan knew that such a hilariously tactless headline/photo combo would accompany her totally sympathetic, mostly pointless article about Team Bush's diplomatic record. It's too bad she isn't as succinct as the headline composer.

Gearan doesn't portray Condi's Big Adventure as a series of failures and embarrassments --Oh no! That would be too easy!-- but as a stealthy accumulation of back-pedaled compromises.

Yeah, whatever. And the rest of the world doesn't hate us, either. Just ask Karen Hughes!

Try to read the article yourself. I found Gearan's twisty analysis to be totally bewildering. The whole thing seems like revisionism now!

Did you hear Bush asked about opting the CIA out of the anti-torture measures? How embarassing.

I don't think Gearan realizes who her audience is. She doesn't make a single reference to Condi's wardrobe or hairstyle. Weird.
