I saw him in '86 at the Amnesty show, and one of the few clear memories I have of that show (27 years ago) is of him introducing "Walk On The Wild Side" as "the Honda motorscooter song". He was brilliant. A couple of my friends wore me out on part of his catalog by endless repetition when they were addicted to heroin, but that's not HIS fault...

I didn't learn of his body of work until 1985, when I started hanging out with band people. Then my appetite or his stuff became insatiable.
