Sarah Palin Entourage Destroys Oscars Gift Suite

(Surreptitious cell phone photo [I'm guessing] via E! Online)

This should come as a surprise to no-one: Sarah Palin and her hangers-on went to one of those celebrity "gift suites" associated with the Academy Awards and basically took everything that wasn't nailed down:
"They were like locusts," says one vendor at the suite, regarding Palin and her large group of hangers-on. "She showed up with like 20 people, and they immediately swarmed the place taking everything!"

Palin grabbed some oversize sweatshirts and tie-dyed "jeggings" for Bristol, got a blowout by colorist Erick Orellana from the Chris McMillan Salon, along with snatching up jewelry from Pascal Mouawad, Skagen Watches, Lash Food and 40 pairs of Aiaiai headphones.

A spokesperson for Aiaiai tells us Sarah said "they would be great for working out."

But was Sarah just grabby 'n' whiny for a good cause? The press release for the suite states Palin gave over $1,700 dollars to the Red Cross and planned to donate what she received at the suite to charity.

Aiaiai headphones: average price $50, times 40 equals approximately $2000 of hard-won merchandise in one grab. But it's OK because it'll all go to charity, including the "jeggings" (ugh) for Bristol and the headphones Sarah said were "great for working out." Uh huh.

Once a hillbilly grifter, always a hillbilly grifter.

EDIT: The more I think about this story, the funnier it gets. Palin failed to understand the whole point of the gift suite, which is that you get free stuff in exchange for getting photographed with or near the vendors' merchandise. If she had allowed photographs, she could have been as pushy and grabby as she wanted, and nobody would have complained! But since she refused to be photographed, the only way the vendors could make it worthwhile was by complaining to the press about her being pushy and grabby.  It's so elementary! So once again it is demonstrated that Sarah Palin, because of her narcissism and greediness, is unable to understand the simplest, most obvious concepts. I'm sure she'll be able to turn this gaffe into yet another story about her being "victimized" by the media. Praise her.

I am almost certain that Sarah will be donating all those $50 a pop headphones to charity.

It will be one one a bitch-on-bitch-combat scene however, if she tries to take those "jeggings" from Bristol.

Just the very word jeggings makes my stomach roil.

I think the two new babies, her retard son and her bastard grandson, should be nicknamed Grabby 'n' Whiny. I don't care which is which, maybe they could even be interchangeable.

Sorry to comment hog, but when I saw this, it reminded me of an episode of The Sopranos titled "Luxury Lounge". The only people worse to get into one of these places than hillbillies would be Jersey wiseguys.

And only slightly worse. Though to be fair, she didn't beat up Lauren Bacall and take her gift basket.

The Jersey wiseguys, though, are fictional, while the Palin family are thrillingly real!

I don't even know what "jeggings" are. I cherish my ignorance.

Oh, yes. This writ large. It occurred to me today that if Sarah makes the transition from politician to talk show host, she will, at last, be genuinely maverick-y, as it usually works the other way around. c.f. Al Franken, radio host turned politician.

In other contrastiness, Al Franken is a comedian, but Sarah Palin is a joke.

Sarah looks so genuinely content in this environment.

Is that Bristol helping the grab?

Matty Boy, it reminded me of the same scene in The Sopranos.
Trailer trash is the same all over, whether it's headquartered at a pork store in Jersey or a meth lab in Wasilla.

This would be a funny story if true, but it's not.

Melissa Lemer, co-owner of The Silver Spoon, has released the following statement regarding Governor Palin's visit yesterday and the false stories being promulgated by the lamestream media.

The Silver Spoon, a company owned and operated by women and established with a firm belief in supporting women in business and leadership, invited Governor Sarah Palin and her family to participate in a charitable function sponsored by The Silver Spoon and the Red Cross to support the Red Cross’ disaster relief efforts in Haiti. Governor Palin graciously accepted since it was in support of such a worthy and timely cause. The governor arrived with a small group about 15 minutes prior to our store’s official opening; and upon arrival, she and her entire group gave generous donations to the cause. We offered to open early to accommodate her schedule; she did not ask us to open early. The other vendors routinely set up an hour before the event opens, so they were already there when the governor arrived. No one was asked to come in early. When Governor Palin arrived, she and her guests made generous donations. I escorted her around and introduced her to every vendor, and they talked to her about their products and gifted her with samples. She never asked for anything but politely accepted the products. The governor and her family and guests were very gracious and respectful to everyone. We asked and the governor happily agreed to take a photo with the American Red Cross staff and the staff of The Silver Spoon. The governor stayed for a total of about 35 minutes, thanked everyone, made an additional generous personal donation pledge to the Red Cross, and then departed.

The stories currently circulating about Governor Palin’s attendance at our event are total fabrications. Just one example of the many falsehoods is the ridiculous idea that Governor Palin walked away with 40 AIAIAI headphones. In reality, she was given two pairs of AIAIAI headphones – one for herself and one for her daughter Bristol who could not attend the event. The idea that she took 40 pairs is an outrageous falsehood. It would have been impossible because the vendors only bring around 100 items for the entire two day event. They would have run out of product after an hour of opening yesterday.

Just to clarify things, the entire point of giving someone a swag bag is to have them take your product and hopefully purchase more. The whole point of giving away products is to “give them away.” That’s why we call this type of event style a “gifting suite.”

We would like an immediate retraction and an apology to The Silver Spoon, its vendors, and especially to Governor Sarah Palin.

Well Anonymous, we can consider ourselves served! By the nameless! Who are you, Bristol Palin?

Cynica said...

I doubt Anonymous is a member of the Palin family since the post is grammatically correct and reasonably coherent.

Peteykins said...

You've got to be kidding, anonymous.

Anyone who cared (snooze) would go to the Silver Spoon's CLASSy website, which unwittingly documents what a meretriciously trashy and lowlife outfit it is. Sarah Palin fit in perfectly there!

The anonymous, repetitious post is just another way of saying the Palin clan, near literal Beverly Hillbillies now, was acting like a bunch of deprived morons looting a Super Wal-Mart for lower middle class strivers -- and the Wal-Mart was tickled to death!

UPDATE: The Los Angeles Times updated its original item and debunked several online reports about Sarah Palin's behavior at the Oscar gifting suite:

I am always leery when anyone still calls Sarah Palin, "Governor Palin", she isn't governor anymore, and she got fewer votes for her job than most semi big cities like Seattle.

This kind of story has followed Palin since she was mayor of Wasilla! She has taken, and taken and thumbed her nose at those who told her NO! She spent big bucks redecorating her mayoral office after she was told no, she charged the state of Alaska for hotel travel expense of around $30,000, when in actuality, she was in her own home, she had McCain aids use their own credit cards to buy herself and family $100,000 worth of clothes (which she never donated to charity, she was told she could not take her family with her to a New York governor's conference, but did anyway, and paid herself $25,000 to pay the hotel and for clothes for herself and the family (do they EVER buy their OWN clothes?) My opinion is that if these kinds of stories keep surrounding her, do you think that they might be true? I mean, how much evidence has to pile up before people put two and two together? Palin asked the people in charge of sending her on the trip to New York to lie and say they invited the whole family; think that might be the same scenario here too? I must further speculate that Palin was given an ultimatum to either leave the Governor's office early, or face criminal charges for all the money she took illegally in exchange for silence. The woman is greedy, greedy greedy; I will never believe she and her group did NOT pillage the Oscar gifts, which could have made more in contributions than her paltry $1,700 donation! It was like she went discount shopping and saved a ton! (A fraction of the stuff could be sold on her precious EBay for much more!)
