Criticize Sarah Palin's Toenails and Unleash the Fury of 10,000 White-Hot Suns

Oh fun, ha ha, Stylelist wrote a little piece about Sarah Palin's funky toenail polish. Uh oh, don't look now, here come the Anger Bears, exploding with outrage:

  • Whats wrong with you people, you got more to worry about then Palin's toes. YOUR FREEDOM, YOUR CHILDRENS FREEDOM and He doesn't even make a good Muslim letting his wife do the things she does.
  • MY GOD YOU LIBERIALS HAVE NOTHING TO DO BUT NOW COMPLAIN ABOUT PALINS TOE NAIL POLISH. YOU ARE REALLY A BUNCH OF BORED STUPID PEOPLE WHO CANNOT PUT 2 SENTENCES TOGETHER AND VOTE IN A MUSLIM WHO IS RUINING OUR COUNTRY. WHY DON'T YOU DEMOCRAPS ALL GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN WHAT IS IMPORTANT IN LIFE INSTEAD OF USELESS COMPLAINING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO YOU COULD NOT BE THE TRACKS ON HER UNDERWEAR . YOU ARE SOOO LOW STUPID UNEDUCATED IDIOTS LIKE YOUR PRESIDENT WHO CANNOT TALK WITHOUT IT BEING WRITTEN DOWN IN FRONT OF HIM
  • Obama is Destroying America and needs to be stopped. Who ever heard of so many Cazrs in This day and age, and in America? whats up with that?
  • The news media has gone completely insane. They have kissed OBAMAs ass so much they can't tell the truth anymore. They will slander SARAH PALIN like they are told to do. She is a threat to them. If she wins the presidency, a lot of liers will go to jail for slander. They put this idiot in office and now see what he is doing. He was taught to hate the United States and he learned his lesson well. He is out to kill this country starting with the ECONOMY and being merciful to his ISLAMIC pals in jail. LORD help us.
  • All these media eyes on Sarah Palin's toenails.... but not a one looking at Obama's original birth certificate

OK, OK, I didn't mean this blog to turn into the posting-amusingly-psychotic-Republican-blog-comments blog, but please keep in mind that the fury displayed above is in response to a tiny article about Sarah Palin's toenail polish.

We're all doomed.

The delusion on the right is depressing me unduly. "We're all doomed" is exactly how I feel. I normally am more hopeful than this, but how can people willfully choose to not deal with reality? They have to know that the things they're spewing are not true.

For instance, anybody with half a brain (and no axe to grind) would be able to surmise that Letterman was referring to BRISTOL Palin, not Rugrat Palin (or whatever her name is). It just soothes their offended sense of unreality to pretend Bristol never existed, for all the obvious reasons.

Is it a new, subversive right-wing tactic to pretend to have no self-awareness and call people stupid, while cleverly using some kind of Muslim-pinko-socialist English that necessitates bad grammar and capital letters? Maybe Sarah's dumb bimbo act is now a strategic political weapon for your previous posters? How do all the LIBERIAL CAZRS counter this before it is TOO LATE?

Also, her shoes are too small. Or her toes are too long. Also.

"YOU COULD NOT BE THE TRACKS ON HER UNDERWEAR"--um, Sarah? Please wipe more effectively.

And weirdos? Please take a grammar and usage class. Please.

We are also very guilty of repeating right-wing rants on our own blog. That's because it was so much fun to read how upset and depressed the wingnuts were after Obama was elected, and then posting their idiocy for our fellow liberals to read. Now, however, it's getting darn scary. The Administration is only a few months old, and already these people have gone so wildly over the top. Are Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes not afraid of liability lawsuits? Can the families of Dr. Tiller and the museum security guard not take some legal action? Although the economy has made charitable gifts a little tough, we'd consider contributing to a cause like that.

I want to know how "ALL CAPS COMMENTER" knows that Sarah has tracks on her underwear.

(See, our side can do it, too.)

Damn, she's got icky toes.

It is true. I could not be the tracks in her underwear.

I think Stylelist showed admirable restraint by only commenting on the toes, given all the snarkable targets in that trainwreck of a hillbilly outfit.

OMG!

I wonder who linked to StyleList.

You should see the Drudge-driven nutso comments left en masse on a cute little Times of London story covering the Wedding Cake Stack Michelle wore the other day. And that's even after moderation, which I'm sure caught the rantiest!

Funny, they go to these Brit rags without a clue as to their ownership/politics and rag on the LIBERAL EMESSEM if they've dared say something nice about Michelle. Some of them would just die if they knew Rupert owned that LIBERAL paper.

Rupert. Now that's a piece of work.

I was riding my bike wearing my VOTE NOV. 4 t-shirt I got from the Obama campaign. Yes, I realize the sentiment is a little late and we already won, but I paid plenty for that t-shirt and would like to get more use out of it.

I walked into a gas station to pick up a soda and there was a guy going on a rant about how awful the so-called change we got with Obama was and how high gas prices were and how we should get our guns and institute some real change, then he saw my t-shirt and pretty much shut up.

I don't know if this stuff is scarier online or face to face. But, either way, it is scary.

Orange toenail polish with doodads attached? Who did her pedicure, Opal's Glamorama?
As long as she keeps spreading white trash, I'll keep complaining about the cultural litter bug.

Um.... thanks for the clarification, Anonymous, but I suspect that Lester just maybe was joking.

I didn't really feel like the original post was all that critical... and your excerpts frequently didn't capture the full craziness of the comments. However, I do agree with this: "We're doomed."

Yeah, at this point in 2001, Bush had stopped funding for abortion counseling abroad, allowed more arsenic in our drinking water, backed out of Kyoto, let the oil and gas industries create our national energy policy, moved to open up forests and ANWR for development, made a bunch of union busting decisions, backed out on regulating coal emissions, gave California the finger when it asked for help with it's energy crisis, and well, a bunch of other annoying stuff. And what did us liberal pinko commie democrat leftists do? We hemmed and hawed and grumbled and wrote a few reasoned gripes which didn't violate Strunk and White's and basically said, you know, this is not going to turn out well. And here wer are basically at the same point in 2009 with Obama juggling more problems than a one-armed paper-hanger, doing his best to keep his cool and plot a course out of this mess, and these people are calling for his HEAD and BALLS on a PLATTER and saying he has ALREADY FAILED and it's time to stock up on the GUNS and BUTTER. And this behavior is getting WORSE and it's SPREADING and it's being ENCOURAGED by their FIGUREHEADS because you know it's about FREEDOM and GUNS and THE BIBLE.

You know, this is not going to turn out well.

Sad, terrifying, hilarious. Is there any hope to bridge the divide?

Maurerguy said...

I really think we need to remember that this is a pretty small group of people, and that there are lot of folks somewhere in the 'divide' between us and them. There are deeply pro-military people who belong to PFLAG, strongly anti-abortion folks who spend 18 hours a day working to help the poor, and people who ardently oppose gun laws AND corporate welfare. This is a complicated country, and a big one, and while the pathology of these folks quoted is an indicator of some huge problems, it's not a good basis for deciding we are" dumed."

I always appreciate being schooled on my lack of education by someone who types in all caps and uses epithets like "Democraps".

Palin was on the today show, flogging her moment of attention by making sure everyone in the world knows that her daughter has been hurt and embarrassed by a joke that would have died with the news cycle if she hadn't been keeping it alive.

She said something weird, too -

Later, Lauer pressed Palin to explain a line in a statement from her spokesperson that "it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman." Lauer asked, "Are you suggesting that David Letterman can't be trusted around a 14-year-old girl?"

"Hey, take it however you want to take it," she said. "It is a comment that came from the heart that Willow, no doubt, would want to stay away from David Letterman after he made such a comment. And you can interpret that however you want to interpret it."

"Well is that not perhaps in bad taste also, governor?" Lauer asked.

"No, it's not in bad taste," she said. "Hey, maybe he couldn't be trusted because Willow's had enough of this type of comments and maybe Willow would want to react to him in a way that maybe would catch him off guard. That's one way to interpret such a comment."

What the heck did she mean by that last bit about Willow catching him off guard?

Way to toss your kid into the ring, Sarah.

Any person with half a brain knows that only one Palin offspring got knocked up and that was Bristol, who is parading herself around like some expert. And it is her mother who is twisting and turning this David Letterman thing into publicity for herself. The psychotic Right knows this deep down and gets furious when it's pointed out. To them I say: Don't get mad at us, get mad at Madam Palin and tell her to get off the stage and stop embarrasing you.

Ciao!

Cheryl, as a civil engineer, I can tell you that to bridge a divide, you need 1) a narrow enough divide to permit a cantilever bridge - not possible over this gaping chasm - or 2) a stable point on each side to support the span - and in this case, stability is sorely lacking on the right bank there - so sorry, no bridge.

i don't know but it seems to me that letterman has a pretty good case to sue the palins for slander.

they have falsely accused him of being a pedophile and making a joke about raping a 14 year old.

given palin's heartfelt concern for the way women are portrayed in the media, i was surprised notn to find her statement condemning the sexist and racist attacks on sonya sotomayor.
