I was appalled by Richard Cohen's Jan. 27 column ["Torture? Prosecute Us, Too"]. So a little bit of torture is acceptable because the torturers and their superiors had their hearts in the right place? I disagree. Even more ridiculous was Mr. Cohen's assertion that we're all complicit because "Congress overwhelmingly voted for war and the American people overwhelmingly supported it." First of all, this "overwhelming" support was fed by faulty intelligence and outright lies, and, second, the war resolution didn't say anything about suspending our observance of the Geneva Conventions.
Mr. Cohen has brought moral relativism to a new low in the pages of The Post.

You go, Petey!
Congratulations, Princess!
Just beautiful.
Cool! Congrats.
Wait... You're not _really_ a princess??!! Nooooooooooooo.....
Well done, Petey. Coolly and precisely stated. Thank you!
Nicely put sir. I think all citizens, American or not have a very good reason to applaud your post.
Well and succinctly stated, Your Highness. Do you suppose Cohen and the letters editor know who you are?
corona: How does being named "Peter Huestis" preclude one from also being a princess?
Thank you P[Peter]SP. Baci.
Gosh! It's like finding out that Clark Kent is Superman!
Well done, Princess.
Bravo! That is one great letter.
At least someone in DC has a moral backbone, & I'm proud to know him. Good job Peter.........

lies=preemptive war=shock & awe=torture=crimes against humanity=violation of domestic & international law
Torture is never acceptable, ever
Cohen's "9-11 justifies everything" mindset, and implication of the "whispered support of liberals"
is exactly how everything went amuck.
For the record, I never heard whispered support- I heard angry shouts & screams & impassioned cries of disapproval. Plus half the country was vehemently opposed, and even more opposed it, the more the truth was revealed.
Violating basic humanity in this way opens the doors for others to do the same.
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
Sad you had to speak up but thank you for doing so.
Wait! I thought moral relativism was what evil liberals did, and conservatives were all about the right and wrong and knowing the difference and that difference never, ever changing.
I'm so confused I may need a nap.
Watch out, or Cohen will start leading off his column with a picture of Peteykins featuring a black eye and chipped tooth.
YAY Pony! ... er Peter!
Thank you, thank you Princess! You're a Prince.
What we all might forget is that it takes a highly intelligent person to be as freakin' funny as PSP.
You're a national treasure, Petey.
Nice, Princess. And if I may state the obvious, you are NOT a loser. That, or we're all losers now.
Good letter. I hope they got more like it.
Dear Princess,
I am notorious for having 'said everything,' but didn't say this. I missed this Cohen person's ghastly screed, but hope that I would have written substantially the same as did Your Highness.
What Karen Zipdrive said.
Word.
(just when I thought I couldn't heart you more)
Wait...Princess Sparkle Pony...
...is a boy???
Seriously, though, that's an awesome letter of the sort more people should be writing.
How does being named "Peter Huestis" preclude one from also being a princess?
Quite obviously, since we're all here...it doesn't.
But seriously. I'm more amazed that half the comments here are, "Wait. Princess Sparkle Pony is neither a pony, sparkly, or a princess?" (I'm sure he'd disagree with me on that last part, but we'll ignore that.) I thought it was well known that he was a guy! (At least, I think I figured it out when I started following him not long ago - certainly, last I checked, most women didn't have stubble.)
A wonderfully crafted letter, but I would expect no less from the prancing hooves of the Princess. My only surprise is that the Post printed something so elegant and irrefutable.
Yay, Princess! Those sparkly hooves wrote a mighty fine letter.
Hooray for HRH Sparkle Pony! Isn't Richard Cohen the doofus who believed Karl Rove's laughable fiction about George W. Bush reading so many books (how embarassing that he didn't realize it was a joke!)? We are grateful to our Sparkle for setting things right!
love,
