I'm Withholding Judgement on Sarah Palin Until Somebody Can Provide a Plausible Explanaton for This Outfit

In this Monday, June 30, 2008 file photo, Laurie Serino, left, talks about the high food prices with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in Barrow, Alaska. John McCain tapped little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate, two senior campaign officials told The Associated Press on Friday. A formal announcement was expected within a few hours at a campaign rally in swing-state Ohio. (AP Photo/Al Grillo, file)

Exactly what kind of fuckery is that?

I am scared speechless.

Simple outfit explanation: everyone freaks out a little when they become a grandma.

Um, excuse me, Governor Palin, 1987 called and it would like it's hair, make-up, and mini dress with leggings back.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Ms Sunshine, this excerpt is particularly relevant given the relationship between her home state and the tilt of Earth's axis:

I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun

They so do!

If you were keeping track of Cindy's hairdo so we don't have to, this blog would be on constant severe alert.

If Sarah ever decides on an actual hairdo instead that thing on her head now, that will also be cause for major comment.

I can explain that outfit.
In an effort to smooth over tensions between him and the Palin parents for knocking up their daughter (again), Levi Johnston persuaded the Home Ec teacher at his high school to help him design and sew an outfit for the governor.
Then he shot a moose, skinned it and made her those gorgeous leg warmers.
He's gonna be a great dad.

pssst-- delete the first 'e' in "judgment."

There's so much more we need to know about Alaska.
They serve mooseburger on hot dog buns? I smell franchise potential.
And Gov. Palin's dans l'ensemble will be the gold standard for server attire.
Just lacks a Ketchi name.

Also, I am loving the grocery cart contents. At least 16 hot dog buns, what appears to be 10 lbs of meat, 3 boxes of cake mix, foam cups and paper towels... and a single, solitary stick of broccoli.

Simultaneously the classiest, environmentally mindful and tastiest possible meal this side of Fairbanks.

It's part of the "Caribou Barbie" collection. (in fairness, I can't take credit for the nickname, but I love it & had to share...)

It's her blanket-tossing outfit! Blanket-tossing is all the rage in Barrow, dahlink.

It's actually a traditional Native Alaskan outfit. No kidding. You mostly see it on Elder ladies and for sale in folk craft places.

Leiderhosen is also a traditional ethnic outfit, but I rarely wear mine to the supermarket.

Her husband is Native Alaskan--maybe they were attending a tribal function and had to pick something up on the way.

With a camera crew.

(Don't get me wrong--I love her, and the fabulous shoes she wore at her nomination speech more than made up for this...panne velvet.)

P.S. How adorable is her babe--he looks like a polar bear cub.

As do we all, anonymous! Although the idea does raise the question: will be it a sofa on the porch, or a broken dryer?

Poor woman is being dragged through a maverick makeover,

Have y'all noticed? Since Friday, she's had a haircut and highlights and has let go of the hive. New specs next!

Close, but it's a bit more than that. The style comes form Christian Missionaries, mainly Russian Orthodox, and was imposed on native women to "civilize" them. It is still quite common in the villages in rural Alaska.

Why is Sarah wearing this symbol of white oppression and cultural imperialism? Duh. She's a Republican and an evangelical.
