Huck You

OMG, Happy 2008 and everything! It's hard to get into the swing of things again after sooo many days off and, well, let's face it: there ain't a lot happening at the moment.

So anyway, I sure did enjoy Mike Huckabee's spectacular flame out this past weekend! You know the one all the kids are blogging about, right? You know, where he said, "It would be wrong to show this ad. Which ad? This one which I'll show you now."

The whole thing reminds me a little bit of Coca Cola's "New Coke" marketing flop in 1985. President Donald Keough, when confronted with conspiracy theories that Coke had manufactured the whole fiasco as an elaborate publicity stunt, shrugged and said, "The truth is we are not that dumb, and we are not that smart," thus earning himself a permanent home in the Witty and Effective Crisis Response Hall of Fame*.

Too bad Huckabee can't borrow that one! Although the affable former governor is, indeed, not that smart; alas, he is, in fact, that dumb.

But it was fun to be reminded of New Coke! Ew, wasn't that stuff nasty?

*It's a very, very small institution.

Can Microsoft now pretend that Vista is the New Coke of operating systems?

Still using XP until they pry it from my cold, dead hands.

Matty Boy: I tried coke (I mean Vista) and have switched back to meth (I mean WinXP). XP is a much more stable operating system. Maybe one day source code will be opened again!

Um, am I the only person in the country who figured out that New Coke was introduced to allow Coke to change from sugar to CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP high-fructose corn syrup? It didn't matter if they lost market share because the corn syrup was so much cheaper due to gov't subsidies. And Coke Classic didn't go back to sugar, just tweaked the formula. You can still get the sugar stuff in Mexico -- it's way better.

I dumped Vista OS too.
Then my speakers stopped working.
I hate PC's and I want my Mac back.
