I could not find your dictionary widget at the apple site. Frustration! I woulda tested different spellings & heck, probably woulda wasted a good deal of my not all that valuable time doin' it.
I thought that word was regional to the Southwest, but I am probably wrong. I always had this bizarre association of that word with jumpin' cactus.

Trust me, choad will be found somewhere, sometime, and it will be where you least expect it.
Maybe not choad,, but certainly choat, which is so much more in these days.
