Condi Throws State Dept. Fiesta in Honor of PSP's Second Blogiversary

Isn't that nice of her? Technically, yesterday was the beginning of this blog's third year. OMG, how did that happen?

So let's review: Condi still reigns supreme, but Ursula Plassnik has made surprising inroads. After a strong last-quarter start, Micheline Calmy-Rey, I'm sorry to report, has underperformed. The Christian Right has continued to be a fabulous fountain, a never ending supply of story ideas. Thanks, wackos!

Would I ever try to take this site commercial? No. First of all, I already have a great job I love. Second, in order to go for-profit, I'd have to start paying AP and Reuters to use their photos and, obvs, I'd have to start blanketing the darn thing with ads, and that just isn't going to happen. Third... um... I'm too lazy and I don't have enough readers, anyway.

All publishers, however, should be advised that I'm not against lucrative book deals, so bring 'em on!

EDIT: Oh! And I realized just recently that I do have a sense of decency after all! Yay! I totally resisted the temptation to post this recent photo (warning: disturbing photo) of Karen Hughes holding an injured child with a headline saying...

Nope, I'm not going to do it. See? Decency!

Dearest PSP,

Happy Blogiversary first of all. How the time flies when we are all having such fun... thanks to YOU.

Anyway, I'm thinking it, you're thinking it... let me just say it, Karen has really kicked ass this time!

Many happy returns,
Franonymous

I forgot to add that in my estimation, such as it is, decency is highly over-rated!!

A writer I like who has a great food blog called "I'm Mad and I Eat" opined once that it's not really a blog if you're getting paid to do it. And since she used to be a big city newspaper editor, the opinion had some weight.

Your voice and your eye over the last two years have been a tonic, plus it's one of the few places I can go and actually laugh on more than one level. You've also honed a pretty cool readership and commentership (is that a word?). I guess what I'm trying to say is: congratulations, Princess. Your efforts have been deeply appreciated.

Thanks for linking to the Karen Hughes pic, and thanks for not putting it on the front page. It lacks fabulousness.

Rummy told us earlier! Freedom is messy!

Elvis Costello told us earlier, too, and he made it rhyme.

"And when they finally put you in the ground,
I'll stand there laughing and tramp the dirt down."

Of course, he was talking about Margaret Thatcher. Ever feel nostalgic for Margaret Thatcher?

p.s. Congrats on your anniversary. We love you, PSP!

Happy anniversary, Princess! I know you didn't start your blog intending to be an online Mother Teresa, but you'll never know how close to that you've become. Many of us would have gone insane long ago without your glitter-filled haven in a storm.

I intend to nominate you for a special Nobel Peace Prize. I'm picturing something like an Oscar, but with rhinestones, glitter and combable hair.

Hugs and kisses, Carmen

Truly, my life was lacking a certain luster until the Glitzerpony trotted into my life and swished its majestic tail.

Thank you, Princess Sparklepony, thank you.

Felicitations upon your blogiversary. I've really enjoyed your viewpoint and voice.
Regarding that Karen Hughes pic: what the bloody fuck did she find to smile about?! Maybe she thinks her action makes her into Lady Bountiful; talk about lack of decency, that harridan is the embodiment of it.

My most heartfelt congratulations on this very auspicious occasion, Princess. You always brighten my day.

Long may you reign!

Happy Blogiversary!

Sooo.. The downside is, the baby's parents were killed by an IED, and who knows what physical injuries the baby him/her self is hopefully recovering from. And the upside is he gets to be held until the flash goes off by the humongous hands of Karen Hughes.

And the REAL upside is, that was Laura's one bomb per day, so maybe baby can get a nap in this afternoon.
