Adnan Dulaimi, the leader of the Iraqi People's Conference, gives a press conference in Baghdad. The senior Iraqi Sunni Arab leader urged kidnappers to release American reporter Jill Carroll, just hours before a deadline set by kidnappers for her execution. (AP photographer not credited on CNN.com. TSK.)Sometimes everything lines up and the result is sheer, unadulterated beauty. This is the most gorgeous wire photo I've seen in months. The complementary colors, the odd perspective which makes the hand look enormous, the contrasting diagonals... fantastic. Two sparkley hooves way up to this talented but uncredited photographer!
UPDATE: Yahoo News, unlike CNN, doesn't mind crediting Hadi Mizban for the photo.
EDIT: To the Pony Pal™ whose comment I deleted*, I didn't publish this photo for any reason other than my sincere admiration for it, as stated unsarcastically above. Please try to make your future comments a little less... gross.
*OMG, maybe the Washington Post will hire me as their next ombudsman!

It is a cool photo. Reminds me of the wild Orozco mural in Guadalajara of the revolutionary Father Hidalgo brandishing a flaming torch while huge snakes writhe at his feet spitting out knives. And I'm not making that up.
It's a stunning pic, isn't it? And I like to think that if I've demonstrated anything on this blog, it's that it's really hard to make a podium shot interesting.
That's an unbelievable image. Doesn't even remotely resemble a podium pic.
Kudos to the photographer.
Princess - you'll have to turn off comments if you really want to succeed as an ombudsman!
Thanks for bringing attention to the great photo.
Great podium shot your highness. Yes, to truely qualify you would need to turn off comments and just post..cant have comments muddy up your posts ya know :P

Okay, I won't be gross this time.
Let's just wonder if they make false teeth in Iraq. This dude appears to have no bottom teeth.
