Quickie: Ummm... Clarification, Please?

Condi made a startling admission to the English press today, and the blogospheriverse is already jumping all over it:
"Yes, I know we have made tactical errors, thousands of them," she said in answer to a question over whether lessons had been learnt since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

"I believe strongly that it was the right strategic decision, that Saddam had been a threat to the international community long enough," she added.
Wow! After years of denials, the dam burst and now Condi's gushing about thousands of mistakes? Care to discuss any in particular, Honey?

Sounds to me like Condi downed a coupla pints at a local pub before she faced the UK Press.

Miss Pony, There is a big diference b/w TACTICS and Strategy. That's all she's saying. The strat is still right but, hey, as in a football game, the tacts can be bad. But it doesn't affect the BIG PLAN. She is getting bang for the buck. A sure firstpage tomorrow. She is sooooo running...

Ms Montserrat,
I have to disagree that the stategy was ever right.
Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. In fact, the Taliban hated Saddam because compared to them he was a flaming liberal (i.e. secularist).
There is no BIG PLAN.
That's why things have been fucked up in Iraq from the moment Bush invaded.
I hope she does run, and if she wins I hope Princess Sparkle Pony gets invited to her coronation and takes me as her date.
:)

strategy, not stategy.

Ms Zipdrive,
By no means did I mean 'right' in the 'right moral/ethical' sense. I meant 'right' as in 'according to' the plan/s that the administration believe is correct. There is no war -or invasion- in History, that do not have Strategies or Tactics included. That's why Condi is doing some kind of elegant justification that -at the same time- earns her some brownie points for the election. Simple math. Things are screwed up in Irak because it is a WAR.

Ms. Monserrat,
What a relief to learn that you didn't think that their strategy was right. Forgive my inaccurate assumption.
Lo siento.
