Sketchbook: "Little Myrna" Comic Strip, 1985/1992

The comic strip above is based on a four-panel gag drawn by Pony Pal Jeff F. in about 1985. I loved it so much that many years later, I padded it with fifteen extra panels, which did not result in it being 5 times funnier. In any event, Jeff gets the credit for the gags, the writing, and even the character design. I think "Nurse Horsy"and "Little Myrna" are probably my favorite character names ever.

The extra "sorry" works for me.

The extra sorry is definitely Jeff's doing. That was in the original comic strip, and it, to me, was what really sent the gag over... some sort of edge.

The nurse's eyes in the final panel reveal that she doesn't believe her own bullshitte. Little Myrna can fly!!!

I would like to see the 4 panel version. I want to see how the dialog is paced.

Sometimes I read the New Yorker and get embarrassed when I don't get the comics.
