I keep seeing the word "senseless" applied to the Sikh temple shooting. I have to disagree. Call it horrible, depraved, disgusting, etc., but senseless? No, when a white supremacist shoots a bunch of
others, it's hardly meaningless. Perhaps by calling something so uncomfortably indicative of wide swaths of American culture "senseless" makes some people feel better about the state of our nation, but not me.

It kind of reminds me of when the 911 hijackers were called "cowardly". Flying airplanes into buildings is a lot of things, but cowardly isn't one of them.
It's high time that our nation's leaders annouce a new form of gun control. Pay attention NRA. The next shooting rampage that occurs means the goverment gets to take away you guns. All of them. HOWEVER, you can defer this penalty provided that you use said guns to make swiss cheese of these mass killers right before they go on one of these mass killings of innocent, unarmed people.
You know who these nutbags are in your community, NRA. It's either them or your guns. Aaanndd... go.
Re: "cowardly" 911 act...I had a pilot friend and he and his buddies found it "impressive" - it really was. Ruined general aviation fun in this area forever.
Is there an institution as gutless as the American "mainstream media"?
"Senseless" my ass. These shooters hate non-white people.
But your WaPo, NYTimes, CNN, NBCNews, etc, may annoy the NRA & republicans if they tell the truth. So "senseless" serves to avoid showing a "liberal" bias.
"Chikenshit" is a good adjective to describe the fourth estate.
It would be one thing if they meant "senseless" as in "This hateful waste of humanity didn't have a lick of sense, because he probably didn't even kill the brown others he wanted to!" but they don't.
I think that a press that has no institutional memory, that cuts its overseas bureaus to save money (as if nothing happens in the rest of the world), that fires or doesn't replace its editors (thus leading to appalling errors, grammatical and otherwise), that never does any follow-up stories any more, that assigns catchy tags and canned music to every awful news event from hurricanes to wars to mass shootings, and that, most especially, accepted the Bush Administration's bold-faced lies on Iraq WMD without even a squeak of skepticism or protest, is senseless.
Why not call this guy what he is: a Christian terrorist just like Tim McVeigh?
it is as "senseless" as accident waiting to happen and another batshit crazy white supremacist JT Ready..
When the Southern Poverty Law Center has a file on the guy, it is hardly senseless as much as the time bomb went off..
