Metablogging: Should I Redesign PSP?

(Screenshot via)

What do you think? This blog has had basically the same design, a hacked version of Blogger's pink girly theme, for over five years with only minor variations. Should I change it? Blogger just introduced some highly-customizable new templates. What does everybody think? Time for a change?

Careful consideration leads me to think you might benefit. I wouldn't go all crazy, It should still feel like the same destination on the web, imo, but a little change might be a good thing.

I am pro-redesign. If nothing else, you'll have quite a bit of fun doing it, and yeah. The current design is a bit dated.

You will have to redesign because my Captcha is "reado"—almost as eerie as your Synchrosausagenicity at Target. I for one would like to see an ever-changing roster of muted niknik prints in the backdrop.

It'll still be pink, probably. I'll probably go with the "window" display, I just have to decide on a background image.

Fun!

I love the pink!
I love the pony!
I love the girlie!

If you're going to change anything I would merely consider adding pearls, rhinestones and/or fake fur.

But I love the feel and constancy of this blog.

You have definitely changed the direction of the blog and a re-design of the look would make sense given the new situation. I have two small and humble requests.

1. Text darker than the background, please. Reading light text on a dark background hurts my eyes after a short while.

2. Please keep the Pink Pony logo somewhere in the new mix.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Fear not, Matty, I would never put light text on a dark background for body text.

Only if you have absolutely nothing better to do.

I think I would be very likely to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Hee hee hee: fruits.

I would be in favor of redesign if it did not include those big-eyed orphans. And later you can always bring back "Classic PSP" if you prefer, or just for a special nostalgic treat for your fans.

Wow, that's just about the greatest idea ever, TwistyTie. I mean about the big-eyed orphans.

As long as the big-eyed orphans are made to appear aghast at Carly Fiorina's hairdo, I am all for it.

Does Blogger give you the freedom to use different templates based on topic? I suppose one could code conditionals into the template script... sounds like too much work. Only think I'd suggest is ratchet down the main text size a pt or two.

By the way, the person who's site you got the image from.... don't copy them (I didn't think you would, just sayin'). They covered DON'Ts that we've all known about since 2002, and seemed to miss a number of new ones that have come out since.

I'm all for a redesign, since I can use Greasemonkey to add the tag to all the Palin threads. Keep those two sparkly hooves up!

I'm really impressed with that example you found. I think they got all the buttons pushed. Comic Sans to boot!

Honey, your web design is way too butch. I think you need to gay it up a bit.

No, leave your perfection alone.

It's YOUR BLOG. If it would please you to design something new, please indulge yourself. If something essential would be lost, stay with what you have, or modify it slightly to fit the times.

I see you as an artist and a blogger, and I welcome your creativity in any direction as you see fit, and enjoy the sparkly hooves that I have always known.

You had the wisdom to return to PSP from Peteykin's drawer... I will simply wait to see what you want to do.

I say leave it alone.
