Condi's Anxious to Dismount the Pink Pony

Reuters, 01/23/08

From Condi's interview on NPR this morning:

Q: And you've said that we were not — we're not going to hear from you very much. I wonder if you're going to be ready for life out of the limelight, away from the blogs that follow your hairstyles and shoes.

A: I think I can live without that, thank you very much. No, I'm looking forward to going back to other things. I suspect I'll be plenty busy, but it'll be nice to have other opportunities. It's been a long eight years. I'm very gratified by what we've been able to achieve. I do believe that what George Shultz said is right — there is no greater honor than representing your country. It's the best job in government. But there are a lot of great jobs outside of government, including going back to the life of the mind and to the promotion of education for everyone.

Emphasis mine. Does anybody know what these people are talking about? Blogs that follow Condi's hairstyles and shoes? Who ever heard of such a thing?

She says she can live without it, but she hasn't tried yet. Princess, she'll come crawling back for attention and hairdo alerts.

OMG!!!! The NPR reporter READS YOUR BLOG!!! PSP is famous! OMG! I just love it.

2 1/2 inch Manolos again. She has given up on her sensible, Republican Ferragamos.

Well, Pony, despite being a critic of yours, now you know that Condi is an avid reader of your blog.

That said, you need to set up a stable of correspondents and photo people out in Palo Alto. I'm sure you won't want for volunteers.

Especially if she ends up with the 49'ers job (I can't see her sticking it out as "Vice Provost" of Stanford forever), since the Yorks appear to need that Stadium in Santa Clara. That will give you a whole universe of new, sports-themed material to go with your Larry Craig and Palin stuff.

WHAT?! There are other blogs that follow her hairstyles and shoes? They must be vanquished immediately. PSP is the only blog qualified to critique Condi's ever-changing and mercurial fashion sense.

Puravida stole my comment. If this is but one of the many blogs that say catty things about Condi and her fashion sense, the impostors and wannabes must be crushed, else the lives of so many Pony Pals are without meaning.

My favorite part of that interview was when she said she was "going back to the life of the mind."

Ha ha ha ha ha!

When I heard that this morning I almost spit my coffee out.

And listen up Condi honey, I have met the Princess and you have not. Don't be so quick to judge sister girl. I think you read this blog every time you get a chance. Which given the little amount of time you've given to actual statecraft, is a lot.

I am conflicted. Although I'm glad to see Condi's well-shod feet moving westward from Washington, as a Stanford grad I hate to see they've put our the welcome mat out as though she had been off in the Peace Corps or something for the last eight years. For many years I've sent Stanford a check every December, but even if it were a better year I couldn't bring myself to do it. Admittedly she's not in the tippy-top echelon of war criminals, but I think she's not quite up to the mark in any respect. No, I haven't heard her Brahms.

Dear Anonymous,

Condi was National Security Advisor when the wars began. She chaired a meeting on the redefinition of torture.

In other words, tippy-top echelon.

Thanks for stopping by.

FranIam--You have MET the Princess?!? OMG, Pony... do you allow audiences with the faithful when they visit DC?

We are all so proud of your fame, which is more justified than most. And Condohoozza is lucky to have had your exquisite attention.

Oh Pony, she is so on to you. And I know you hate word verification humor but I don't care- today's word is CONDL.

I LOVED this question! I wonder if NPR's Michele Kelemen is a secret Sparkle Pony fan herself?!?

Fran said...

Wait a minute! Did Condi just say "going back to the life of the mind"???
Did she just call the Bush admin MINDLESS???

Ha!

Princess – so in the morning you are referenced on NPR (really people, the use of plural “blogs” must have been an attempt to deflect too much attention to PSP) and then in the afternoon NPR announces staffing and program cuts. Coincidence?

Oh, Princess, so happy your work has been recognized in the MSM!!!

I think my mother would scold Condi for treating her shoes that way, BTW, scuffing them against the carpet and turning her foot like that.

Dear Anonymous Stanford Grad - I'm very pleased to hear you are withholding support from your alma mater. As an engineer living in California, I work with a lot of Stanford grads and I'm very dismayed that I hear so few protests of this academic travesty.

Not only is she "going back to the life of the mind" (as if she were ever there?), but she's also going back to promoting "education for everyone." Like those rich brainy kids at Stanford! "Everyone!"

This is just the beginning, I predict NPR will be knocking on PSP's door for an interview one bright sunny January morning soon.

Gosh, isn't EVERYONE a Pony Pal?
If only NPR knew of your legions of fans stalking the halls of Foggy Bottom....

What does she expect? All is she is shoes & hair (with no mind in between), and PSP has accurately identified her as such.
