Quickie: OMG, Who Gave Kathleen Parker Truth Serum?

I've posted several items lately about how the GOP keeps pretending that the religious nutballs are their "base" when it's really their fringe, and that they're totally destroying the party. OK, so which ones of you emailed those posts to Kathleen Parker?

Remember how ol' Kathy put her foot in it recently by suggesting that Sarah Palin was not, in fact, the savior of the party? And all her National Review pals told her she should take a time machine back to before she was born and abort herself? Well, things are about to get much, much worse for her. From her latest, shockingly frank column:

To be more specific, the evangelical, right-wing, oogedy-boogedy branch of the GOP is what ails the erstwhile conservative party and will continue to afflict and marginalize its constituents if reckoning doesn't soon cometh.

...

Suffice it to say, the Republican Party is largely comprised of white, married Christians. Anyone watching the two conventions last summer can't have missed the stark differences: One party was brimming with energy, youth and diversity; the other felt like an annual Depends sales meeting.

I never thought I'd be, all, like, you go Kathleen Parker, but there you have it.

Kathleen.

Her column is in our Sunday paper here in the farthest reaches of Smalbania, NY. It has given me great fodder for my blog and for letters to the editor of said paper.

Then it started.

It is like she was awakened from her conservative coma. I was not sure that I liked that.

I mean one week I had good letter material when she spoke about "iPodding bloggers." (snort!)

And then it was all like "blah blah this is bad and this is what it really means to be Republican."

So I am, as is so often the case, so with you PSP.

"oogedy-boogedy wing."

I like the sound of that. I also like the fact that more of the codgers are heading on to be with St. Ronnie of Raygun.

Anyone who uses "oogedy-boogedy" and "cometh" in the same sentence is obviously schizophrenic. She must be off her meds.

She's like the Dr. Phil of the conservatives, "telling it like it is." I, too, never thought my reaction to her columns would be along the lines of, "YEAH! Tell 'em, KP!" but there you have it. Surely the end times are upon us.

Barry Goldwater must've been turning over in his grave since the "conservative label was hijacked, but now he's frantically scratching at the coffin lid as blood runs from his ears.

When I read, I anticipate what comes next. As I read about the RNC, I anticipated something like old-time country club gathering; she bowled me over with "depends."

oogedy-boogedy, too. Good word choice; she can't have saying "psychotic paranoid cranks" pinned on her.
