I Need a Translator. Or a Filter. Or Something.

Sarah Palin did an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network (UPDATE: Whoops! Sorry, here's the link), and I challenge you to make it through the whole thing, or to make any sense of anything she says. An example:

Brody: Let me ask you a little bit about media scrutiny because some of the media networks...wonder why you don't go on some of the 24/7 cable networks. What is your response to that?

Palin: Well sometimes it just doesn't do any good. I mean you set yourself up just to continually be mocked, you know so sometimes that doesn't do any good, but what I have done in this campaign is in reaching out to the American voters through our rallies, through the one on ones, through the small meetings that we've had trying to get our message out, our plans for this country out there minus the filter of some of the filter of the mainstream media because, because that filter as, as we see every day when we turn on the news too often there is this, this opaqueness, there is this, this spin, this contortion of a person's words and intentions and that does more harm than good, so it's a greater challenge for me and for John McCain to try to get our message out there without that filter of I think some of the world's media. It's a greater challenge, but again, it does make us work harder and try to reach more people. That's why we're traveling around so hard and fast and aggressively across the US is to reach more people.

Talk about opaqueness! Never mind that she's lying, as she's done several interviews on that Fox 24/7 cable network, but... huh? What I'm getting is blah blah filter blah filter filter blah blah filter. She's like Jeff Gannon but even less eloquent.

And what awaits us this week? Will the Republicans be able to go even one day without major new racist embarrassments*? Unlikely in light of Powell's endorsement of Obama, I know. Will Palin have any rallies in cities with more than 500,000 residents (UPDATE: yes, Reno)? Will Cindy remain fabulous (yes). Will McCain turn into a comical zombie again?

*Nope. Maybe a better question at this point is whether or not the GOP can go one hour without major new racist embarrassments.

Good, keep talking Sarah! There can be no more effective way to illustrate your complete lack of credentials for public life. Just picture her armed with a long rifle and babbling incoherently about filters and baby jeebus. Feeling that shiver down your spine?

I'm sorry - it is somehow the media's fault that she has zero ability to string together a coherent thought or sentence? All she needs to do really, is to look at the mirror and she'll see the filter that she's talking about. Sarah dear, it's not them - it's you, honey.

Oh my- you have said it all.

She's more like George Bush, only with a more grating accent and totally devoid of commas or semi-colons.
I do love that she decided to focus on small-town America though. Fewer voters.

It's almost as if they're sending her wherever she can do the least damage possible.

I would never say that the places where they're sending her, the rural places, are less intelligent, because I don't believe that's true, but I bet that's what the East Coast Elitists running the McCain campaign think.

I can't describe how much I hate her hypocrisy.

Technically, Reno itself is about 200,000 people, but the Reno+Sparks+suburbs population is about 700,000.

I know this because I shot a man in Reno... aw, you know the rest of the details, I'm sure.

It looks like the Holy Spirit manifesting behind the lamp. Perhaps she was speaking in tongues.

A. Diderot finally pointed out the obvious "holy ghosts" evident on film (or in this case, pixels). Has she seen a ghostbuster about these problems?

It's the ultimate parody - she accuses the media of "filtering" her message, when the problem is no one can understand the gibberish that comes out of her mouth.

She's learned two "big-girl" words in her tutelage by her handlers - "filter" is one and the other she learned from Katie Couric - "mock."

I noticed as I watched the VP debate and got continually more and more drunk, she began to make much more sense. So I guess we just all have to get drunk, and then she's an eloquent genius!

However, a big-girl word she still needs to learn: stature. As in, "a man of his stature" not "a man of his statute" or she might have said "statue" but definitely not stature. The word she uses ends in "ooo" like achoo!

Yeah, but she only uses "mock" because she can't say "caricature"!

Heh heh. Sarah Palin is amazing. Do you think that, regardless of what happens this election, she'll return (like the Dark Lord of Mordor) in later years more powerful (and with an even larger vocabulary) than ever?

If you are a- or be-mused by Mrs. Palin, you may get a kick out of my parody: "Sarah Palin Sings Popular" (from Wicked, the Musical).

And if you like it, please pass it on to all your pals and e-pals! :)

i'm watching sections of her new interview with Brian Williams and the
gibberish continues...
I would give anything if she said anything that made sense.

beyond her own name and the names of the members of her family.

she has zero fluency in anything that's remotely relevant to being a VP.

I can't take it.
