Quickie: Today's Public Sex Bog News

Another day, another bunch of married "straight" men (other than the priest) caught having sex in public bathrooms:

Among those arrested was the Rev. Gary Mead, a Catholic priest from Millwood assigned to St. Gregory Barbarigo parish in Garnerville. Police said he fondled an undercover officer and was charged with forcible touching.

Mead, 44, was previously assigned to St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls and, in the late 1990s, was parochial vicar at Holy Family parish in New Rochelle. A message left yesterday with the Archdiocese of New York was not immediately returned.

Shawn M. Cromwell, 29, of Pleasant Valley, a Level 2 sex offender, was charged with public lewdness, loitering and trespass. He was convicted in 1997 of first-degree sexual abuse in Dutchess County involving a 9-year-old boy.

"Some of the activity we observed was very, very disturbing," Lutz said.

"You can't believe the stuff we see," said Robert Becker, 25, of Brewster, a maintenance worker at the rest stop. "We're always calling the police."

John M. Canzio, 47, of Bedford Hills, president of the Katonah Rotary Club, was charged with exposure, loitering and trespass. Canzio has an unlisted telephone number and could not be reached for comment.

With the exception of Mead, all of those charged are married, police said. Although most of the illegal activity takes place at night, the crimes occur throughout the day, Lutz said.

So I guess the reason this story is news-worthy enough to post in Princess Sparkle Pony is because, OH MY GOD, CLOSESTED MARRIED MEN SOMETIMES SEEK EXTRAMARITAL HAIRDRESSER CONTACTS!

I can understand when it is self-righteous politicians, but just random guys?

Is this your way of commenting on how the media is reporting this? That way, the post is not about the dudes in the bathrooms, but the fact that it made some other 'news' source?

I guess I just can't handle this without additional commentary. Don't let me down, PSP!

The stall doors at Penn State all have latches on them made by a company called "Hiney Hiders." How's that for a sexytime toilet!

Guzman - you need to document that. I'm a PSU alum, lived in the SC area for last 20 years although I haven't been affiliated with good old Pee Ew for at least 20 years.

I NEVER noticed them and that's certainly the sort of thing I WOULD Notice. Not that I ever spent any time in the 3rd floor Willard mens room, or Rec Hall locker room. Or, well, you get the idea.

I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a pic!

They should just retrofit confession booths with toilets so priests can take confession and get their freak on at the same time.
As I see it, there are two types of priests: sexually active gay ones and those who help them keep their secrets.

I feel a little odd knowing that our local Rockland County rag of a newspaper has forced its way into this special sparkly blog!

Then I realized that the topic trumped the source!

I think my friend knows that rest stop. Since I frequently email other PSP posts to him, this one must go too!!

In further scary 6 degrees matters, I went on one blind date with a guy from Garnerville. He was a "children's party clown" - I kid you not. I did not know that whenI got set up with him. Needless to say, every red flag went up upon meeting.

Wondering if the "children's party clown" and priest were acquainted?

I think if people need to pee, they need to rethink their choices. Let me correct that- if men need to pee they need to rethink. That is all I am sayin'!

Well, is THIS enough of a political hairdressing scandal?

Republican legislator at state convention; Hollywood XXX Erotica Boutique; ladies underwear set; sex in the boutique; sex at Spokane's most posh hotel (???); blackmail reported to state police who report it back to local police who arrest youngster (who denies blackmail) and then release the police report to the public. "I am not gay and I did not have sex with that man."

Curiouser and curiouser! Young Cody's not the brightest of the hairdresser set (I mean, really, lay off the mousse) -- unlike PSP, he didn't think to come up with a catchy nickname for his, ah, extracurricular activities. Hint: you'll have to turn off the Google's SFW filter to see what I'm talking about.

However, how delicious to see Spokane return to the hairdressing spotlight that Jim West shone on it!

I'll be sure to document the Hiney Hiders latches ASAP and send you a note! When I first saw them, I thought someone had just scratched it into the metal as a joke. But they're all over campus now!

How funny is it that you know the "hot spots" even though you've been away for 20 years! Guess some traditions just never die!

WOW! I'm really saddened by the close-mindedness of all you bloggers! Rev. Mead is my Priest & I am a proud parishioner of St. Greg's. If the he did what he is accused of then I feel very sad for him. He is torn between his love of God and service to his Church and his desire to have sex. How hard that must be for him. I do not condone his behavior but I do feel very sad for him.

My Church is suffering right now. We are a family and we are all hurting. I'm in my early 30's and I was never a fan of Church until I found St. Gregory's. Before you judge, think about how your words (blogs) hurt others. These mean spirited words are hurting hundreds of us. Thankfully Jesus died for our sins and God is forgiving.
blessings,
M

This post is a few days old, but I wandered back through the comments and saw the one above by St. Greg's parishoner anonymous.

Anonymous- I live a few miles down the road in that wacky, liberal bastion of left wingdom, Nyack. With our celebrity residents (Ellen Burstyn, Rosie O'Donnell, Jonathan Demme, Bill Irwin) and our gay parents and actual diverse community.

And our priests at St Ann's(stopped going there ages ago)are straight as pins and duller than dirt.

However, my point is this if you will allow me.

Everyone either wants to condemn the priests or shield them. I wish to do neither.

I will say this- they are human. I get the attraction to the church because I too have it. I can't possibly explain it to anyone. And trust me- I am a big liberal lefty potty mouthed gay man lovin' woman with a shady past and only recently respectable present. However, I find it hard not to be Catholic.

So Fr. Mead fucked up, as many do. I can't condone priests acting out, but frankly better with adults than with kids. OK.

Let's not tar and feather and let's not shield them and call the bloggers closed minded.

How about we have some realistic and appropriate expectations of humans.

And how about if we are Catholic, we find parishes where we can breath freely and places where we can exercise our voices. It is in this way we make a better church by claiming and demanding our place at the table.

And for the record... Many, many, many priests are gay and are in some kind of relationship. Actually more in healthy ones than not, but they dont' ususally make news, do they.

If you ask me, if JC showed up today, he would be hanging with the illegal immigrants, the gay folks and all other disenfranchised. And maybe even bloggers.

Well this comment may end up resulting in me not be welcome here any more, but I had to put my own idiotic 2 Catholic cents in.

Good night.
