She'll Always Have Paris

French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste Blazy(L) welcomes US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice prior to a meeting in Paris. World powers meeting in Paris upped the stakes over Iran 's nuclear program, agreeing to send Tehran back to the UN Security Council and raising the threat of sanctions over its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment.(AFP/Jacques Demarthon)
OMG, so Condi got to go to Paris! You know, for work 'n' stuff! So it was free, OK? And she was simply divine in black and white, don't you think? Oh, just take a gander at her:

So those shoes are made for shoppin', so I'm totally excited because it will mean a whole bunch of great new couture suitlets for photo-ops. I'm already feeliing energized at the prospect!

But back to the conference thing in Paris or whatever, because, OK, there was this German guy and he doesn't look very nice:

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier speak at the foreign ministry in Paris, Wednesday, July 12, 2006. Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday that Iran has given a 'disappointing and incomplete' response to an international deal to end suspicious nuclear activities and said world powers may have no choice but to haul Iran before the U.N. Security Council . (AP Photo)
Isn't it fun that this isn't the kind of photo we're used to seeing? Like it isn't in matching armchairs and the people look like they're talking for real? Well, I'd say body language says just tons, wouldn't you?

I don't know if it's his fault or hers, but that's a totally bullshit dead-fish handshake they're engaging in. The kind that just pisses you off when you get one. Look, he's just grabbing a couple of her fingers.

He probably considers her as lame a duck as her boss.
No sense wasting diplomacy on a temp.

Isn't it kind of hard to advance the cause of Freedom while you're wearing a majorette's top? She really looks like she should be twirling a baton instead.

The German guy looks like he's unhappy because someone ate his bratwurst...and not the one that might ordinarily elicit the opposite reaction...

Frank-Walter, the German guy, is the one who was positively giddy at meeting Ursula and her scarf at the foreign ministers meeting a couple of weeks ago.

Could that possibly be the Condibot with a new expression programmed in? I only ask because in the top photo she looks to me like a human Pez dispenser - as though at any moment her head will snap back and she'll launch a piece of candy at you.

Wow, she looks like she's ready to lead a marching band to "Seventy-six Trombones..."

Possible caption for the German Foreign Minister (thinking): Wow, what you are saying is complete horse crap. I want to laugh... No, I shouldn't laugh. That would be rude. Can I call someone? Why didn't I ask my secretary to call me? What should I have for lunch? Blazy had better take me somewhere good. God, I need a drink.
