In this photo made available by the Austrian Foreign Ministry U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, right, meets with Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik at the foreign ministry in Vienna, on Thursday, June 1, 2006. Rice is in Vienna to discuss Iran's nuclear issue with foreign ministers of Great Britain, Russia, Germany, France and China as well as EU's foreign policy chief Javier Solana. (AP Photo/HOPI MEDIA/Bernhard J. Holzner, HO)Hooray! She's on the road! And this is such a good example of the exciting things that happen to the matching armchairs photo-op overseas: they've got the small, tasteful flower arrangement right, but the sofa is an undignified stand-in for the armchairs, and the things on the wall fulfilling the role usually reserved for a fireplace? Well, that's just crazy.

Coupla chicks just sitting round talking... the wine coolers are under the table.
And such a messy table. What is all that stuff?
Like the "My spear is bigger and better than your spear" positioning though. Very crafty.
looks like the austrians' sec state could easily beat ours up.
oh well.
What a great photo. God forbid the future of world cooperation could be women cooperating with each other at the highest levels of government. Better stick some spears in there! Or are the spears more like a comment, putting the spears on the wall, museum-style, as if to say, look at those silly men who used to fight each other? Love the photo, love the Austrian! Did Condi call ahead to say what she'd be wearing? Or happy accident? We'll never know! As for the messy stuff on the table, well it sure looks a little more "real" than the Condi photo ops. Not everything has to be perfect. Plus that way if one of them gets bored she can pick up a magazine and leaf thru it. This photo actually gives me hope.
er...ahem...I think they're paddles from the Sepik region, not spears.
You know, I was wondering if they were paddles after I posted the hokey commment about world peace, women and violence. Regardless, they add spice to the photo op. Were they a gift to the Austrian Foreign Minister, I wonder?
