Metablogging: The Trouble with Audioblogging

OK, so some of you have noticed that I haven't posted "Monday Audioblogging" today, and I'm wondering, honestly, if it's worth continuing this feature.

Basically, the point of Monday Audioblogging is to provide a fun and/or interesting break from the politics-as-usual which makes up the rest of this blog. For a fun break, though, it takes a LOT of work. First I have to digitize the old records, and that usually takes a couple of tries, and then each album cover requires eight scans to show both the front and the back. And then uploading the files takes. for. ever.

Oh, whine, moan, I know. But if the audioblogging got a great response, it would be all worth it. But... well, it doesn't, so it kinda isn't.

So, Pony Pals™, what say you about the audioblogging? I'll respond with more thoughts on the matter in the comments.

As I said elsewhere, I giggle through the audios at home on Mon. mornings. They really appeal to me, esp. the cafeteria organist and the little Christian ditties.

Obviously I am a sick person whose opinion shouldn't count.

Please guard against burnout, PSP. I went through withdrawals when there was a streak of non-publication.

On the other hand, you may not have been getting enough good, wholesome food. There's a guy who could be your brother doing this site: http://www.lileks.com/institute/gallery/knudsen/7.html
and it might contain just the nutrition to raise you to new heights.

I think you've been more than generous with your time and computer space in preparing your Monday offerings.
To be honest, my dial-up service makes opening up music files take forever, so I usually just listen to a few seconds of one song and stop.
I love that you collect bizarre music albums, but I am perfectly okay with you phasing out Monday audioblogs.

Dearest Princess,

I am a regular visitor and reader of this blog, especially when avoiding work. I would probably enjoy your audioblogging except that it would be a dead give away that I am not completely engaged in my "work." The covers and descriptions themselves are very entertaining though.

I was a big fan of the Friday Ugly Tour Bus Photoblogging. Maybe there is something similar to that (i.e. silent) you could share us with.

Whatever you choose to do, it WILL be sparkly, pink, and wonderful!!

The Christians... and the bargain Steve and Edie from last week(I mean, Little Green Apples??). And so many more. Princess my love - you have brought me great joy with the audioblogs. But do as you please as you never fail to entertain!

I love Monday Audioblogging. I can't wait until I finally get my lazy butt around to getting a turntable so that I can listen to my own jewels. (They've been so long in boxes, I really don't know if they're worth it, but I'm eager to find out.)

However, it's your blog, your time. And whatever you do with Mondays will keep me entertained.

I agree that we don't want Princess Sparkle Pony to go off her feed (I use the generic "her" that goes with princess ponies). The blog is sparkle-tastic, and it doesn't matter either way to me re: the audioblogging. I thank god that someone is keeping track of Condi's hair so I don't have to! While there is an element of procrastination to my enjoyment of your blog, the time I save in not having to keep track of the hair WAY outweighs this! My productivity is through the roof. Keep it up!

The audio selections were way too scary for me.

They reminded me of a friend with extremely similar tastes. Years ago I bought him a rare movie soundtrack to "If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium" for his birthday and he played it so obsessively for the next four days (and it was extremely, well, horrible music) that his roommate flipped out one morning and ripped it off the communal stereo system, pulled out a hammer and smashed it into many pieces. He tried to apologize to me later, but I told him I completely understood.

Whatever you do I tend to find totally interesting, so please continue on with your next fabulous obsession.

Dearest Princess,
I love your audioblogs!! I would miss them. However, you certainly have given us all joy out there in Princess's Pasture. I agree with others who say we would miss it, but that we would understand. Your sparkly blog, your sparkly time.
Your biggest fan in Tampa!

We love MAB. We always drop by on Mondays to visit MAB. Nobody else does anything like it, so please keep it up! And even if you decide that once a week is too much, then do it, maybe, once a month or sporadically but, please, don't stop!

And, of course, we love the condi-liciousness you offer up during the rest of the week.

Hello Princess,

I love your audio blogging, but I would understand if it was too labor intensive to do weekly. Perhaps fortnightly? Monthly? Every once and a while-y? I would be sad if I never got to hear the insanity of your Audioblogging again.

Okey Doke!

A new feature, one which will sometimes feature audioblogging, will debut on Thursday.

Also, yes, the ugly tourbusses will be returning as well.

Thanks for the input!

The ugly tourbusses AND audioblogging? I am in sparkle-heaven!!!

Whatever you do, please don't burn yourself out!
My name is Carmen and I'm a glitter-addict. There! I took the first step. But there's no way I could ever go cold turkey - I'd be sweating sequins.
I love the audioblogging but Condi Hair News is what is really, really important!

My dearest glitteringly superfantastic Princess Sparklepony,

I can but echo the sentiments here: do what you need to to avoid burnout and resentment. If that means a reduction of audioblogging, well, I'm still playing "Little Green Apples" and horrifying my friends. And I had another nightmare last night with the music box music in the background. I fear that, like Deanna Troi, some alien race is tryng to jam my telepathy with incessant, brain-melting music box music (pardon the laspe into Nerditiude).

If you can sneak us some gems now and again, or perhaps even take a sounding on the more whacked submissions at your disposal (which would both potentially garner some level of interest amongst your "base" as well as increase the hang time you can get away with between postings), that would make my glistening little heart flutter with pink flowerly delight.

Yours very truly,
Samael7 (Mr)

Dear Princess Sparklepony,
I love Monday Audio Blogging. Little Marcy has made the party shuffle on iTunes a little scary, but that's a good thing.
I will always be grateful to Princess Sparklepony and Monday Audio Blogging because now I have "Janitor" by Suburban Lawns, a song my wife and I had been discussing just two weeks before it appeared on this site. Plus, you can't beat "Gidget Goes To Hell." Oh! and the Children's Bible Hour with Aunt B was a terrifying reminder of my childhood as a missionary kid in Okinawa. Oh! And that synth albumn was great, too!
Monday Audio Blogging is what makes life worth living, sometimes.

Can't seem to find my earlier comment.

I love it MAB,and don't go a monday w/out it. Now with HM Ferragmo being so busy these days you've got a lot of other important work to do.

I know busy too and I don't mind waiting.

Besides I'm going to some digitizing of my old, under copywright, motown for my kids. And they can thank you for it.
Kisses to Knoxie!

I thought I would recomment the WFMU 'blog, beware of the', and their 'on the download' as sources of unique mp3. Not an emplyee, just a fan of you and them.
