Heard Any Good Ones Lately?

OK, so I'm a little bit lazy, a little bit bored (a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n' roll), and that's why there's nothing up yet today. Thank goodness for Midge Potts:

She's running for Congress against purported leprechaun Roy Blunt. Just go to her web site and learn all about glamourous Midge! On it you'll find pretty much what you'd expect to find from a amateurish Republican candidate: fiscal responsibility, god, grammatical errors, Reagan, more god, etc., etc.

But is there anything really different about Midge? Her bio is pretty bland: service in the military, allegiance to Jesus, whatever. There's just one teensy little thing, a trifle, really, and I'm sure it was simply overlooked by her web designer: Midge was born a man.

I'm sure she'll do just awesome in the primary. The GOP is a big tent, right? Big enough for Midge?

Hat tip to the always fantastic Pam's House Blend.

UPDATE: A comment left here, perhaps by the lady herself:
Stay tuned... you will all be very surprised on election day!

Until then... laugh all you want; I'm used to it!
Honey, we're not laughing because you're a transexual; we're laughing because you believe your own bigot-dominated party will support you.

I am sorry but Midge still looks like a male. But I love that Midge is running as a Repube! Bet "they" dont..ah screw em if they can't take a joke :P

There is one glancing mention of the gender thing: "Baptized of he/r own free will at the age of 14..." Still, the "Made in America" line on her computer screen takes on an unusual significance in her case.

Of her 3 pledges, the first one, to introduce legislation for Congressional term limits, is based on the false premise that that can be done through legislation rather than a constitutional amendment.

Her reference to "uniting SW Missourians" seemed rather worrying until I realized that SW stood for south west, and wasn't some creepy Single White Female thing.

What trannie would select a name like Midge?
Just for that, I'd like to thump her in the adam's apple.

This is priceless. I needed a good laugh today. I wonder how this plays in the Bible Belt.

I'm just laughing because Midge is running as a Republican.
That's like a woman named Naomi Ginsberg running for office in the KuKluxKlan.
The GOP hates gay people, yet she thinks transexuals get a bye?
Gimme a break.

Personally, I'm chortling over the fact that she's "freelance web designer specializing in Flash animation and a freelance writer," yet her site is so damn juvenile.

Wow, what a bunch of angry Dems we have here.

I know Midge and I'm proud to consider her a friend. If elected she will do a fantastic job of representing her district. She is a thoughtful and passionate activist who cares about average Americans. Unlike Roy Blunt, she won't be jumping in bed with every corporate lobbyist who comes along.

Please look past party labels. They often don't mean jack shit.

Anonymous, you bet Dems are angry... angry at your parties bigoted attempts to ruin the lives of all gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender people who are also AMERICANS via your puritanical laws and pathetic attempts to mutilate our Constitution. You're darned right my anonymous genius! It pisses me off to see someone like Midge licking the hand that beats her.

Proudly, a pissed off Dem.

Ha! I am a Green. But if I were in Missouri I would proudly vote for Midge!

Again, labels don't really mean jack shit any more.

Many Dems in Congress supported the Patriot Act. Most Dems continue to fund this illegal and immoral war and occupation of Iraq. Dems are no longer a true opposition party.

It's kind of funny you assumed I was a Repug.

You must not realize that Missouri has an "open primary"!

Don't you remember how Cynthia McKinney got voted out in Georgia's Democratic "open" primary in 2002? the Republican's sent lots of their folks in and stacked the deck!!!

A person isn't registered to any party in Missouri. On election day a person can go in and vote on whatever ballot they choose.

I think Midge is a genious... the only way to kick Blunt out in SW Missouri will be to get him out in the primary.

And by the way, most Democrats have not done jack shit for the gay community either... except pander to us... but why aren't they lining up to co-sponser a bill that adds sexual-orientation and gender-identity to the civil rights bill?
