Pony Pal™ Ian sent in a wonderful tip. You know that stuff in the SOTU address about "human-animal hybrids"? Well, what about Republican Senator Jim Bunning's wife? From his home page:
When Mary visited the cardiologist, tests revealed the damaged heart valve and the aneurism on the aorta artery. A couple of weeks later Mary went for more tests and surgery was performed the very next day. When the surgeon went in he replaced the damaged valve with a bovine or calf valve.
Not to mention Jesse Helms:
Prior to surgery, Helms was off his feed, tired and weak. Doctors offered detailed medical analyses of Helms' condition, but in the end it came down to a fact of animal husbandry the senator himself was sure to appreciate: The average natural lifespan of sus domesticus, the common pig, is 10 years. If, like Helms, you have a 10-year-old pig valve separating your left atrium from your left ventricle, it is time to get a new one. If, like Helms, you are 80 years old, recuperation from the procedure can be a dicey affair. (link to article)
A dicey affair, indeed! This is totally the stuff Bush was trying to warn us about, isn't it?

I think, as a show of solidarity with the GOP and the president, Mary Bunning and Jesse Helms should give their animal parts back.
It's just wrong to go around with cow and hog valves in your chest,
the Bible tells me so.
Damn.
I guess now I'll have to abandon my plans to develop my very own mermaid.
