Al Kamen points out in this morning's Washington Post (column not online yet) that Amazon.com's new "share your customer images" feature essentially turns each listing into a potential Photoshop contest. See the humorous results here and wonder if this exciting feature will last.
UPDATE: I tried it; it's fun!

Petter Douglas Huestis,
Great form Princess! I think a thumbnail and Petter's name come up on the product page now. Hope it last.
Love your blog.
Carlos
Yeah... "Petter". That's the first name my bank assigned me because, you know, "Peter" is such an obscure, difficult-to-spell name. I can't get them to correct it no matter how many times I've tried.
In the future I'll watermark the images I upload with the sparklepony URL and, hey, free plug on Amazon.com! Yay!
PSP - that was too funny. I am not nearly the photoshopper that you are but you have given me several evil ideas. Thanks!
That is excellent. The main page link is this and you are a mouseover image. So it really doesn't take much to be seen.
tbegaxpd - All Sean could manage to pronounce wit Mr. Murdoch's dick in his mouth
(hope that's not too profane for the delicate Princess)
awesome
Sean is even more beautiful than I imagined! What a beautiful man!
Thank you Princess!
I honestly don't see that feature lasting long once the word gets out and people start posting "Goatse" on Anne Coulter's listings.
Nice avatar, berkeley guy! That is without a doubt the most widely distributed picture I've ever made.
I feel silly but I can't see user images on the Bush book, only on the Hannity one. Ah well.
I too saw the dog avatar and thought to myself, I wonder if Mr. Guy knows he is sporting a Pony Photoshop.
You did wonders for Sean.
I think they took down the user image for the Bush Book. I saw it up this morning and now it is gone. . . . .
That is beautiful work, Princess! Do save a screen cap before it gets sent to the shredder please!
I do think Amazon will keep the feature, but they will either change it so that the image requires review before being posted, or a mechanism will be added to complain about the picture. Eventually the whole process will become an arms race.
However, there is hope! The beauty of exploiting this feature will be in the application of subtlety. Such internet standbys as naked reflections in chrome will appear, of course, but the very clever and industrious will be able to get away with some very evil subliminal messages I bet.
Well then, get to it, z7!
Ms. Pony,
I think you may have singlehandedly caused Amazon to rethink its new feature.
Thank God you're on our side, you sparkly little genius, you.
Too fabulous, darling. Keep up the good work!
Tami
