Don't Feed the Conservators

The Smithsonian Museum of American Art has released a conceptual drawing of their planned Lunder Conservation Center, in which their technical staff is placed in a fish bowl for visitors to ponder:

Now, I'm pretty skittish about writing about my job, but I work closely with painting conservators, and I like to think I know my colleagues well enough to be certain that they would HATE to be on display like that. See that little kid above? You just know what his real world counterpart would do. I think this revised drawing is probably more accurate:

UPDATE: My anonymous inside sources (wheee! my first!) weigh in:
"How horrible. Like a monkey in the zoo."
My anonymous sources (I just love writing that!) also tell me that their colleagues at the Smithsonian pointed out that they will hardly be working right up against the glass, like the unfortunate soul in the illustration: "The public won't be able to see much of what they're working on."

UPDATE 2: I have it on good authority that my adjusted graphic has now been forwarded to all the future occupants of the fishbowl.
