Fashion Victim: United Colors Of Angela Merkel

Via Pony Pal™ Jon via the Guardian comes Noortje van Eeekelen's gorgeous display of the obvious fact that Angela Merkel buys her coats in bulk. This is the kind of journalism I love! You're sure to enjoy, at the same link, a similar collage of the many handbags of Carla Bruni, a selection of purses worth more than the GDP of most developing nations.

What's your favorite Merkel color wheel station? I like the pink, obviously. This should become the new standard of color: "Oh, it took us forever to choose, but we decided to do the nursery in MJ (Merkel Jacket) 10-05-2009!"

Instead of Pantone, we could call it Jacketone.

And besides the pink, the orange one next to it and the shiny one above it certainly stand out.

Ursula needs to talk to Angela, Teutonic female politician to Teutonic female politician.

It's hilarious but also kind of great. She's a scientist by training so of course she has a pragmatic solution to professional dressing so she can get on with the business of running the European Union.

Nelly, I totally agree. She's like Jeff Goldblum in The Fly, with his closet full of identical black suits.

Also, just think of how a John Boehner version would look: black suit, black suit, gray suit, black suit, black suit, navy blue suit, black suit, black suit.......

I'm partial to the greens, especially the June 208, 2011 green, but I think I have a sequined cowboy shirt in the same material as the shiny red number of February 9, 2009, so it gets an up-vote from me.

The transitional color on June 17, 2011 was not a good look for her. It's too neither-here-nor-there for her. The reds are fine, and the orange is actually good on her (although I'd mix in some earth with that to keep it from being too pumpkinny), but that demimonde color should be left to others, or possibly no-one.

And nothing says "weltschmertz" like a rumpled gray suit of May 15, 2012. O, austerity measures, thou art cruel and unkind.

Hey if she likes the style, I say go for it.
