Richard Cohen Tops Previous "Worst Sentence Ever Published By The Washington Post" Record

Uh oh, Richard Cohen is writing about Syria again. He's been doing this a lot lately, and just in case you think he's finally found a topic to which he can contribute intelligently... c'mon, it's Richard Cohen! Here, I'll summarize all of his Syria columns: Let's start a new war in the Middle East. This one will be humanitarian!

But what really got me was this sentence:

What perplexes me is that a good deal of this patronizing criticism of we interveners comes from the left.

Just savor that sentence. We interveners. We interveners. Patronizing criticism of we.

Ladies, Gentlemen, and Pony Pals™, we have a new winner. Cohen has reclaimed his title from Jennifer Rubin!

Yet, many capable writers remain unpaid...

It's supposed to be "us interveners" anyway. :(

Perhaps it was supposed to be "wee" interveners, those tiny clestial beings who invisibly manipulate our lives, like guardian putti.

There he is, pretending to care about tiny interviewers.

Right, Hannah, that's what I was getting after. Not only did he use a made-up word ('interveners'), but also combined it was an egregious grammatical error.

Remember back when WaPo was considered a good newspaper? (Okay, they probably had RC writing for them even then.) But remember when there were people called editors? Who would, um, "intervene" when it came to grammatical errors?

Somebody on staff there should have caught this. Unless.... OMG, unless.... THEY DON'T READ HIM, EITHER.

I think we should take him up on his word. Lets fly him to Syria, hand him an M16 and a helmet ans tell him to go forth and intervene himself. Forcibly if needed.

THEN we beat him to death with a grammar book.

Haw, Pony Pals, just so you know: that last comment was left by a widely-read journalist at a respected publication. LOL.

What RC really submitted was "wee wieners" but it got lost in translation.

And he's perplexed that those on the left would oppose invading Syria?

You're right, Richard, you geopolitical genius, Iraq is different from Syria. Iraq didn't have Russia on their side.

He should have just stopped at, "What perplexes me is" and added a wildcard. "What perplexes me is *." Yeah, pretty much.
