Vintage Munsingwear Grand Slam (Penguin) polo shirt, cotton/poly.
Vintage Izod cardigan sweater, 100% Orlon™ acrylic, both probably 1973-77.
When I was a teen punk rocker in Tucson in the early 80s, I used to love wearing clothing meant for old men: ugly Munsingwear polos, Mr. Rogerish cardigan sweaters, plaid "Sansabelt" polyester pants, etc.
But now that I actually AM an older man, The Rack at Nordstrom, their trendy boutique for teenagers, is brimming with... Penguin* shirts and Mr. Rogerish cardigan sweaters. And don't even get me started on Urban Outfitters.
Dressing ironically is a minefield, people.
*The Penguin line was always totally stodgy golf/tenniswear for seniors. Munsingwear's recent successful reintroduction of the line as a brand for hipsters will be talked about in the marketing textbooks of the future. That they were able to re-release some of their old designs, totally unchanged, to a completely different demographic decades later, is nothing short of astonishing.
