Is anybody particularly surprised that DC's schools were just ranked dead last in the nation? Maybe this explains our shocking 35% adult illiteracy rate?
When one considers that Maryland and Virginia both made the top five, the solution becomes crystal clear: close ALL of DC's schools and divvy the students up between our two neighbors. Problem fixed!

As a Texan, I am totally pissed off that DC beat us out in ranking.
As Bush would tell you, we Texans are proud of our illiteracy because we all know Jesus will guide us through whetever the Hell we need to know.
Or your rich daddies. Either way. That's what needs to happen in DC -- trust funds for everyone!
But PSP... I like your thinking. We could solve to problems at once: voting rights, and schools. We'd just give the whole District back to Maryland. (I am NOT living in Virginia.) With DCPS's luck, though, they'd find a way to make DC part of the Baltimore school district.
Ahhh...that explains Bush's "Leave No Child Left Behind" policy.

did y'all know that the higher education coordinating board and the texas education agency are seriously reviewing "intelligent design" curriculum sponsored by the Institute for Creation Research, an ex-california outfit (now housed in dallas), to grant degrees in science education, to train teachers for texas public schools? and that a panel of TEA commissioners views the curriculum as "a plausible program"?
and that two tenets of this outfit are that god created the universe in six days, and that those who reject christ will be consigned to "everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels."
seriously. considering. approving. degree. plans. for. creationism.
