Clarification: Michael Steele DOES NOT Hate Puppies

I saw what may be my favorite campaign spot EVER this morning. Gosh, all of us in DC are soooo lucky to see all the Maryland and Virginia ads!

Anyway, OK, so it's Maryland candidate for Senate Michael Steele, who still, curiously, fails to identify himself as a Republican in his TV commercials or on his web site. But it's OK, because he's come up with the most bizarre straw man argument I've ever heard! Steele faces the camera and tells us that we'll be hearing all the mean campaigning from the naysayers who hate him in DC, and that they'll be telling us that he "hates puppies." But... here's the kicker... he then smiles and assures us that he does, in fact, love puppies!

I swear I'm not making this up.

See it for yourself on YouTube!

The puppy platform!

I guess Republicans need to do something to disassociate themselves from Dubya, and what softer, more innocent creatures to muster for the cause? They can't disagree with him or anything...

Yes, I agree. This is one of my favorite ads ever. Second only to Paul Wellstone's "fast Paul" ad a few years back.

If he keeps this up, I may have to move to MD just so I can vote for him.

Lamont has a good ad where he puts himself down in a hell of a funny way.

I'd rather see funny ads than the usual lying ones.

Here in Fla. we see Katherine Harris ads. They are supposed to be serious but you gotta laugh at anything Katie is in.

Setting aside the snark for a second, I actually like this ad. I can't tell if you are being sarcastic my lovely princess, but the coward Republican has a point, and one that he makes with a sense of humor.

Dear cadidates for public office:

I want to know reasons to vote for you, not reasons not to vote for the other guy.

I wonder if people will be able to find him on the ballots, seeing as he won't be listed as "Middle-aged man dwespewate for you know his deep, abiding wuv for cutesy puppy-wuppies"

Repubes gotta love em..or wish they would all find the rapture real soon and leave running our country to people that don't lie and stretch or mangle the truth.

I perfer the latter.
