Friday Ugly Tour Bus Photoblogging: l'Édition Français

What a fun surprise! John from By the Bayou has sent a lovely selection of ugly tour bus photos from the mean streets of Paris, proving that these atrocious vehicles may after all be the international language. Quel domage!

You can click all of these for a larger view. Oh, look! Here's another one:

This one struck me as unusual:

Why? Well, who's that on the side? Take a closer look:

Why it's that rascal Goethe! Based on Tischbein's portrait:

What's Goethe doing on a tour bus in Paris? Beats me. That painting doesn't live in France, either. And one more:

See? The French are just like us! Tasteless! Thanks a million, John!

Oh, Karen... you've been trying to ride Lolli for years, but she's really not that type.

These aren't French tour buses, but Freedom ones, aren't they??

I saw a Fücker bus in Düsseldorf.

I like the second one with the bubbles..so sue me.

The rest are atrocious or just weird.

Pony -- Edition is a feminine noun. It should be l'édition française.

You are a bad frog & will never turn into a prince.

Can't tell you how disappointed I am.

Still love you though.

Anonymous, I think we need a moderator, because I'm pretty sure my usage is correct.

French is not by best language but I think française is correct. Please don't smite me with your glittery hooves of wrath.

Shot in Paris, but most (all? not enough evidence) are not French. They're German and misc central/eastern European.

Unsurprisingly. Like most Europeans, the French don't usually tour their own country in coaches. People from other countries do.

And to top off this carnival of pedantry - it's "quelle dommage".

"édition" is fem, so it should be "Française"; "dommage" is masc, so "quel dommage" is correct.

French/German - apparantly, the Germans loooove vactions, and they love to go to France. which horrifies the proper French, because Germans are loud and goofy and travel in hoards like Americans.
