CNN Even Gets Stupid Things Wrong

CNN has this cutesy "back-to-school" roundup, including a ridiculous look at B2S looks throughout the decades (go to the feature here and click on "five decades of trends"). This really stuck out for me:
[In the 1970s] Girls wore pantsuits and miniskirts with Nancy Sinatra boots, and boys grew their hair longer and wore T-shirts and jeans to school, as well as gold chain necklaces. Platform shoes and clogs were popular.
I'm sorry, but any girl who showed up to my school wearing a miniskirt and Nancy Sinatra boots would have been laughed back into the previous decade where she belonged. And pantsuits? What the hell are they talking about? And platform shoes? Look, most of us kids attending elementary school in the 70s weren't members of Kool and the Gang; we simply didn't wear platform shoes to class. The only things they get right are the ones which apply to every decade since the 50s: T-shirts and jeans.

I knew LOTS of people who wore platform shoes in the 70's. Most of them stolen.

true the t-shirt and jeans are timeless, but back in the 70's I think we were equally weird and wishful about the 50's. Did everyone look like extras from Happy Days?
