Reuters Relocates Walter Reed to Iowa; Hilarity Ensues

This just in from Reuters:

ATTENTION EDITORS - CAPTION CORRECTIONS FOR SIN40, 45-47 WHICH MOVED ON JULY 1, 2005. WALTER REED MEDICAL CENTER IS OUTSIDE WASHINGTON, NOT IN IOWA. REUTERS APOLOGISES FOR THE ERROR.
Indeed! And when are they going to apologize for the way they spell 'apologizes'?

Many British and American words end in ize in one country and ise in another. Rueters is British, unless I'm very confused. You're making as much sense taking them to task for spelling it that way as you would complaining about "colour" or "tyre".

Webster, the first American lexigrapher wanted American spellings to be different from British.

Actually, the American "-ize" spelling is preferred by Oxford, Cambridge, and many British publishing houses.
