Fake Newsapalooza

A lot of news outlets are carrying the story about how a "Christian group" is protesting Jessica Simpson's slutty new music video. The group is called "The Resistance", and it's run by a real nutjob named John Conner.

Take a look at their web site. This group is so bizarre and extreme that they make Focus on the Family look downright wholesome and low-key. They're the kind of group that goes for all that Illuminati stuff, and are so far from the mainstream that one wonders why such an obscure, tiny group's kvetching would garner any media notice at all.

Truth is, they don't merit any media notice at all. But by reporting this "news", the media gets to show pictures and video footage like this:

Hmmm... could it be... could it possibly be that the news services who run this story don't really care about what some obscure group of fanatics has to say, but are thrilled for any excuse to show a hot girl in a bikini washing a car?
